Good point. I don't like Pederson for this team I think he'd be better served heading out to Atlanta with a veteran quarterback and locker room. His resume is good and he is a better in terms X's and O's but his situation reminds me a lot of Herm Edwards. Teams overachieved with a decent amount of talent even though it eventually crashed and burned. You can never remove a SB win from a resume. But this feels pretty much the same as McCarthy. Great teams, but also undisciplined teams that were dependent on great play out of the QB position that was on the QB and no one else. Not that it matters a ton for me either but Pederson is also awful with the media. He's arrogant but he also just always seems to say the wrong thing at the wrong time.
Didn't this guy get something wrong fairly recently? I only remember because I confused him with Connor Hughes and though he was a beat guy.
Well that probably rules us out. I can't see the Jets waiting on an interview and letting other candidates get picked up
I believe the interviews with Lewis and Glenn were done to have more information about potential DC options for a young head coach. Douglas said multiple times that he wants to gather as much information as possible and that's exactly what those interviews are.
Sorry if I misunderstood, but it wasn't clear. You mentioned Douglas and then in the same line, and maybe the same sentence said "he's" without mentioning Harbaugh's name, which led me to believe that you were talking about Douglas.
Along with this, I wonder if Jay Glazer of Fox really has any inside scoop or if he's just trying to put two and two together with Douglas and Pederson because it seems logical.
This doesn't remind you a little too much about a certain hotshot OC who was only good when he was handed elite level talent? I'm unbelievably skeptical of Daboll. I won't throw a fit if he's the hire but I have a massive hunch that he is going to flop as a head coach. I also won't be able to tell him and Joe Douglas apart.
My premise is that I don't think he was trying to tank. Personally. Sometimes what seems obvious, isn't. Again. I think the decision to pull Hurts came from up top. Which would make sense considering he is openly complaining about being told what to do. That has to come from somewhere, who has the power to tell him what to do? The situation isn't a big deal to me as a whole. It's way over blown In my opinion. Ultimately right now. It's all subjective. Until the truth is out there. It's all speculation. I tend to lean towards somewhere In the middle of It all being where the truth lies. It doesn't always work out that way, but, a lot of times It does. Still. He's got some badass accomplishments in a very short span. It would be foolish to not at least interview the man.
How many OCs can you name who put up great numbers with such mediocre QBs? IMO this is just a Gase bias. Anyone who might have anything in common with Gase is getting ruled out and common sense is getting thrown out the window with posters, wanting to hire some young snot-nosed kid as our new HC who doesn't have experience to have been hired as an OC in the NFL, much less a HC job.
You're not describing me at all for the record. I'd be just as fine hiring Marvin Lewis with a great staff as I would be hiring Joe Brady. But either way, what great numbers did he put up with mediocre QBs? His offenses were dreadful every single year that he tried to run one up until this year when the cupboard was loaded.
If both offer, Daboll will pick Chargers with established young QB I am afraid. If he is our top choice, hopefully Chargers move elsewhere. I think Pederson is referring to being told to play Wentz and which OC to hire as being told what to do. There is no chance he is told to pull Hurtz and then get fired. With all that said, JD would know if there are any major red flags, like losing locker room, players not respecting, tanking, etc... If he interviews Pederson (and this is assuming Doug wants to coach this year), a lot of the concerns I have will be alleviated. Based on just the accomplishments he is clearly a top candidate.
These stats should serve as a warning to those who are all on the Trevor Lance Train. Yeah, I know, different players, but relying on great stats from a 2nd tier program is risky (and I say that as someone who really likes Z. Wilson).
If Lurie got rid of Pederson because he wouldn't commit to Wentz starting...even though he said that during this past season.....then why did Lurie let Rosemon waste a #2 draft pick on Hurts when they needed WR's in one of the deepest WR drafts of the last 10 years ??
I would not call Bowling Green a second tier. More like 3d tier. BYU is legit second tier, though this year they probably had mostly 3d tier competition unfortunately due to COVID, no conference games.
My gut says the same. I also think I remember reading somewhere that the Jets were impressed by Brady during his interview.
