I don't understand the way some of you think. How do any of you actually think that Pederson and Gase are comparable? They both got fired, okay, now what? I mean. Look at the guys resume. The Eagles are beyond moronic to fire a guy who recently won you a superbowl. Maybe It's the green factor? Got a couple running the Jets too.
I don't like how Pederson handled the QB situation in Philly and I'm really skeptical of his offensive success without Frank Reich being there. With that being said, that teams core is shot and Roseman did nothing to replenish it, instead opting to take a gadget WR and QB instead of Justin Jefferson and another impact player. Who knows the extent of the situation in Philly and why Pederson wad fired. Pederson does have success in the league, it isn't easy to coach a team to a Super Bowl regardless of the talent level of the roster and coaching staff. Overall, this wouldn't be my favorite hire but the Jets can certainly do worse than Pederson.
Yeah, a lot of bad history. Similarities to Gase's situation of making excuses and recently being fired. Kotite going from the Eagles to the Jets. Philadelphia was pretty bad in 2019 and 2020. Just not what you want to hear after going (2-14). However, as some have said, you need to trust Joe Douglas to make the right decision. If his decision is Pederson, we have to go with it. I just personally wanted a fresh candidate. No doubt Pederson would be a better hire than Gase was, I just see similarities.
The big thing to me is seeing how Eagles fans are almost all blaming Roseman. Imagine us rushing to Gase's defense after he got fired? Wouldn't happen. I'm willing to bet Eagles fans have a better read on the situation than us.
Is there something I'm missing that shows he's a good CEO-type? Also, the fact that they were 24th in team rushing attempts despite being 3rd in yards per run and dead last by far in sacks speaks to an extreme stubbornness and/or total inability to evaluate his own players.
Also,Pederson has a drastically different resume than Gase or Kotite dif Even before he won a SB or became a HC he was widely regarded as one of the best offensive coaches in the game & Reid’s right hand man
And there've been lots of talks/rumors for the past few years about bad locker room culture there as well
I was hoping that JD would start with a fresh new coach but now that Pederson is available, he may just get the guy HE knows. They were tight in Philly and they won a SB together there. If he's hired, then I hope it comes with qualified coaches for offense and defense. Build a good coaching staff and I'm okay with it. Too many young HC candidates out there that are making noise and that can bring change to how the game is played today.
I actually think Pedersen to us makes a lot of sense. He is a great coach and beat Bellichek...It sounds like he was told to tank it up. I know JoeD is hands off about coaching staff and stuff once in place. I can see him being interviewed but I also see JoeD not giving HIS FRIEND a job. He had to FIRE HIS FRIEND Gase the last time
yeah because Wentz is one of the biggest divas in the league. Any team with a QB like that would have a bad locker room
Just remember who is his QB’s were from those years. ‘09 Browns: Brady Quinn, Derek Anderson ‘10 Browns: Jake Delhomme, Colt McCoy ‘11 Dolphins: Chad Henne, Matt Moore ‘12 Chiefs: Matt Cassel, Brady Quinn ‘18 Bills: Josh Allen (Rookie) ‘19 Bills: Josh Allen (Improved, also made playoffs)
Everything I've read and seen suggests he was fed up with the wrong people trying to tell him how to coach. That's a good thing to me.. When GMs and Owners start meddling In areas they have no business In, you often see horrible results. Kinds like the season the Eagles just had. Gase and Pederson are not comparable though. The resumes and achievements alone blow that up. I could be wrong but I haven't read Pederson making excuses about injuries, I'm not seeing him constantly throwing his players and coaches under the bus. He certainly has had successful offenses along the way, without Payton Manning as a crutch. Kotite has Zero to do with, Pederson. Just because they both worked for the Eagles doesn't mean a thing. Eagles made the playoffs In 2019, no? 2020, obviously things got bad in that environment. Doesn't mean he's a bad coach. Nothing about him reminds me of, Gase. At all. I think he could be a steal if I'm being honest. He could flop here but with making the playoffs 3-4? Times and winning a Superbowl. Yeah... I think I would've found a way to make that work If I was the Eagles owner. Instead of siding with your trash can QB. That's just me though.
I actually don't mind this at all. Joe D would know him, his relationship with Rosman and his relationship with his players. Joe D has his job on the line, he's not going to give him a job because they know each other. If he hires him I trust his decision based on that.
all the years in the wilderness kinda does that to a fanbase, we are just desperate for something to cheer.
Which is actually a strike against him imo. Is the offense better because of the coach or the fact that the qb has improved and been given weapons. I know that talent is a factor but can any of those shitty qbs say they benefited from Daboll as their OC? Cassel was a season removed from 27-7 td to int ratio. Imo there isn't enough evidence that what's happening in Buffalo isnt just a vastly improved qb with better weapons as opposed to anything the OC is doing.
Just saying, but the roster for the Eagles started going to shit two years ago, which is very coincidental with JD coming to the Jets. Pederson is not my choice, but Roseman fucked things up. Also Wentz whining BS and lack of an OL and offensive weapons (thank you GM) didn’t help. However, any comparisons between Pederson and Gase are clearly IMO borderline insane.
