Darnold's longest TD run of any QB this season:

Looking at CMP% will lead to bad QB evaluations.

He’s not an anomaly. He was never as inaccurate as his CMP% even in Wyoming. You can scheme a QB into having a high CMP%. That doesn’t make him accurate.

Your not skeptical this isn’t a fluke year......your terrified that it may not be a fluke year. His first year he was throwing to Robert Foster and Zay Jones who both had decent seasons with Allen, but are now an after thought in the NFL.

I’d be skeptical if Allen started the season slow and then caught fire the last 4 games of the season. He’s played at an MVP level from game #1 to game #16 with a few average to below average games sprinkled in. I can’t speak for all Bills fans, but I’m enjoying fans being skeptical of Josh Allen, what he’s doing now we’ve seen already here and there, now it’s just more consistent.

    Terrified? LMAO

Yeah, that's it. I'm terrified. Haha

Nothing about Josh Allen worries me. Enjoy your season while It lasts.

The poll in this thread is interesting to me. It shows how truly torn we are with what to do at QB. Darnold leads with 35%. Fields right behind him with 31% and Wilson right behind him with 23%.

I really hope Justin Fields has an AMAZING Championship Game performance on Monday and makes the #2 pick a slam dunk decision for the Jets.

Did that poll start before or after Sam's NE game? That's when Sam had all the time in the world to throw, all weapons, and still produced the same disappointing result as he did all year. Also I wonder if this was before Fields' monstrosity at Clemson. I think right now it would not be close. Like you said though, we need to collect all the data, and Fields has one more game left on Monday.

It should since he’s in the same division as you see how he’s 3-0 in his last 3 games against you guys.

I do understand fans of opposing teams take longer to come around on opposing quarterbacks. From day 1 I just never saw it with Sam Darnold....never understood what the hype was about. He looked like a short passing easy throw QB that did nothing at an elite level, but was considered this potentially elite prospect. Same with Tua......I just don’t see it with this kid. He reminds me of Tyrod Taylor......doesn’t throw a lot of picks due not taking many chances and always takes the safe throws. You can win with a QB like Tua, but the defense has to be elite and you need things to go your way which is what happened this season. As we saw in the games where the defense wasn’t forcing turnovers and the special teams wasn’t scoring points Tua struggled badly.

Is anyone else in favor of trading the pick AND Darnold? Or just me?

I don't see where that makes sense unless you think there will be another option available in FA. Will there be? Perhaps but it's speculation and way too early to assume that's a viable option.

Allen has made a believer of me, love his arm and ability to scramble and make plays on the run, he’s still not a complete QB as he’s not completely comfortable in pocket but that will come with experience.

By the way, one of our administrators is not going to tolerate Buffalo fans coming here to gloat so keep your posts neutral, you have been warned.

Allen had a great year and Darnold had a terrible year but saying this is not understanding that football is a team sport. Allen's roster and coaching staff is everything that Darnold's isn't. I say, with 100% confidence, if they flipped teams Darnold would be having the same success, if not more, and Allen would be in a Rosen situation or out of the league by now with the Jets. He would have crumbled in this situation. He wasn't ready for it.

A lot of success in this league is luck and the right situations. Sam has had neither so far.

You still have to give Allen credit for working his butt off the past 2 off seasons to get better. You can’t contribute his success to just being on a better roster.....the kid can play football period. You make it seem like you can put any QB on Buffalo’s roster and he’ll put up Josh Allen numbers.......that’s just not true.

Sam just isn’t that good of a QB, it’s the media constantly giving him the benefit of the doubt......all you hear when it comes to Sam Darnold is “I still think he can be a good QB”......it’s year 3 and he actually looks worse than he did in year 1. People like to bring up Tannenhill when talking about a QB being put in a good situation, but Tannenhill actually had a couple good seasons in Miami passing for 4000+ and 24+ touchdowns. I think Sam would be having more success if he was in Buffalo just not at the same level since they are 2 totally different QBs.

No, I am not saying that. Allen does deserve credit and has been getting it lately. I have always liked Allen, I just preferred Darnold as a prospect. I am saying the Jets would have ruined him most likely and that Darnold would have succeeded in Buffalo. Clearly, we will never know for sure though. Allen makes special plays. He keeps making them too. It is impressive. I don't think just any QB could put up those numbers in Buffalo, but I do think a lot of QB's could succeed on the team they built there.

Allen is better than Sam. You could argue that if Sam were drafted by the Bills and Allen by the Jets that Sam would have better numbers than Allen would. But the discrepancy wouldn't be as big as it currently is the other way around.

Just look at Tannenhill. Maybe we shouldn’t give up on Sam just yet but tbd. Draft needs to be 100% offense.

Watson wants to move to Miami...I am not banking on Darnold to do anything in this division

We need to stop with Tannehill comparisons. Ryan was a solid QB under Gase. His QB rating was averaging 92-93 ever since his third year. His worst rating was his rookie season (76). Darnold has regressed and in his 3d year QB rating is 73. Even if Sam is able to make a giant leap that Ryan did, which is EXTREMELY rare by itself, that unlikely leap will put him in a range of just a solid QB Ryan was BEFORE Miami dumped him, not the guy who took a giant leap after already being solid.

This year was supposed to be evaluation of Sam. What is the point of evaluation if you can't even say it has failed, when the guy lands as the WORST starter in NFL, and his own back-up, washed up Flacco coming off injury outplayed him? The result of this evaluation could not have been more decisive, punctuated by the last game of the season. I really think it is a no brainer to take a QB in the draft with the talent we can get now with #2 pick.
