Definitely look to improve the interior.
Perrine and Johnson/Adam’s rounding out the rb stable works for me.
I’ll leave Herndon up to the new coach.

People that think serviceable players are good enough are the same people that predict we are going to be 10-6 in seasons we go 4-12. There are about 7 starters on this team that are good enough. Everyone else could use an upgrade.

for sure but you can't have pro bowlers at every position. Every team has weaknesses. Buffalo 13-3 and they can't run the ball or stop the run.

I had a friend who has some connections to the NFL tell me the following (don't flame me, its probably total BS but a boy can dream)

    Jets get:
    Deshaun Watson
    Texans 2nd in 2022
    Texans 3rd in 2022 or 2023

    Texans get:
    Sam Darnold
Jets First rounder in 2021 (#2 overall)
    Jets First rounder in 2022

Yeah this seems too good to be true, but Houston can either draft Sewell and have 2 stud OLs for Sam. Or they draft a QB or WR at #2. They can also trade down, still keep in the top 5 or 10 and get more picks. The Jet first rounder in 2022 will probably be a top 15 pick as well.

This hinges on Watson being disgruntled with the Texans. We can get him and use our other 1st rounder on a WR. Joe D needs to upgrade the OL, take the best RB with his next draft pick (I think it will be a third rounder, correct), and we will win a few more games.

If the Texans do this to Deshaun Watson they should be banned from the NFL.

    Free Watson.

They did just contend for a Lombardi Trophy. Literally. The last one that was played in fact, with the same QB they have now.

In a capped league you’re going to roll out some players you just pray are serviceable. That’s the economics.

Watson is a BEAST. A true Franchise QB and he's only 25. He's worth the #2 pick.

I think everyone would be on board with just 2 overall, and maybe Sam, for Watson. I know I would.

I just think it would cost more than that...most likely a lot more.

Yes, but the weak link of that team is the QB. With Watson, their odds of winning it all go up significantly.

Correct, but I don't know how anyone can argue that QB isn't our biggest need by far.

    1. It's the most important position by far. Probably in any sport.
    2. We currently employ the worst starter in the league.

So we have the worst starter at by far the most important position.

Having said that, I think Watson would be too expensive and I'd prefer to get a QB in the draft.

I believe JD would do this in a heartbeat. It's a lot but not enough that it would severely handicap us going forward. We'd still have both Seattle 1sts to get some more solid young pieces plus get some decent draft picks in return.

I just can't see this being real, no offense ChosenTees haha

This is literally my scenario above. I pull the trigger. Watson is only 25.

But I can't see this happening without a coach hired. Douglas said he wants the coach's input for the QB.

Unless Watson discussions have been a part of the interview process....IDK

Were going to get Watson, a 2nd, and a 3rd, for Darnold and two 1sts?

We've lost all rationality at this point.

I'd be wary about trading for a guy that looks for the exit at the first sign of trouble.

It's not as if he'd be heading to paradise over here. He could pull the same stunt with the Jets.

If the Texans do as he wishes/look to move him so soon after giving him a monster payday to me it's a red flag. Buyer beware.

So ten years ago McDaniels gets the Denver job and trades away his young franchise QB. Is he really going to do the same thing?

One of those is the 2nd overall pick. I’d take my chances with Fields or Wilson rather than sell the farm for Watson.
