Should Joe D check in on this? Float Darnold and picks? What would you offer? I have always liked Watson, couldn't believe he dropped in that draft and he is elite
Well, I was screaming "WATSON YOU IDIOTS!" at the tv right before they selected Jamal Adams on draft night..... Not sure he'll want to leave one shitty team for another, but at least the JETS have the potential to turn it around quicker
Very interesting. I think he costs too much in every way for Joe Douglas' style. His contract costs a lot, but the draft picks it would cost would be even worse. Probably #2 overall, both of Seattle's 1st round picks. Maybe even more. He is a true franchise QB and played great this year despite the Texans being terrible around him. Basically the opposite of what Darnold did with a bad team around him. To answer the first question though: Yes! Douglas should at least check in on this.
Initially I loved the idea but I think it would take too much to get him. If we’re talking something like SEA’s 1st, a 2/3, and Sam? Sign me up but I think it would take something like 3 1sts and change and at that price, I’m out. What good is a top 5-10 QB if we can’t give him anything to work with?
I'm not who you replied to but if the Jets can get Watson for that, I don't know what I would do with myself. They're stealing one of the best QBs in the league.
No problem, it's a open question for everyone! It's a tough decision because we have holes to fill but he is FQB1 and that is everything
Hmm I think Falcons make a better trade partner. They have great weapons, get him out of the conference, they have the 4th pick overall. Would Falcons move on from Matt Ryan? I think he has value too and some playoff team could be interested
I think that is a fair trade. I would do it. Just taking Joe Douglas at his word though, I don't think he would. He wants to build the team through the draft so even losing 3 picks, including a 1st and a 3rd, may be too much for him. He would probably want to save the 3 picks for players, use the #2 pick on Fields or Wilson, and then use the cap money on a couple free agents instead of giving it to Watson.
There was a guy who committed suicide when Jets selected Adams over Watson. OK, maybe it was in Curb Your Enthusiasm episode, but you get the point.
We would still have 2 1sts next year and watsons presence would elevate what we think are holes now. make it happen JD
I disagree. He took a pounding in Houston his first year because their OL sucked. If we couldn't surround him with a great OL and weapons, then it would be better than with Sam, but not a lot better. Unless we could get him for Seattle's #1 pick this year and a #2 or #3, I wouldn't do it, and don't think Douglas would, either.
What the hell is going on? What a weird thing Houston has going on... To be honest I doubt he actually ends up requesting the trade, but if he ends up doing it what an indictment of their current regime. His contract is not un-trade able but it would cost an arm and a leg to get him. You’d have to bid with a couple teams to make it happen.
Good but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ No thanks. edit for that proposed trade then that would be a steal but still, his wages are huge.
