Jets sitting pretty at #2 with a lot of options. This also let's our potential new coach know that he will at least be able to Draft Fields or Wilson knowing Trevor will be entering the draft. If Fields plays well against Alabama it wouldn't surprise me if Jags take him #1. Especially if they hire Urban Myers as HC. Crazier things have happened. Baker was taken before Sam, & Jags took Bortles instead of Bridgewater.
I give the Jets maybe a 25% chance of drafting Lawrence on the #2 at this point. Obviously if he is there you take him without thinking too hard about it.
I am still hopeful that the Jaguars with Urban Meyer or just their own incompetence end up taking Fields first. I had read that the Khans required that they continue have decision making authority when in comes to players so that sounds like a shitshow. With that said, I can visualize them taking Lawrence as any idiot knows he’s the best prospect this draft. I’d put that at 90% chance at this point.
If Fields lights up Bama like he did Clemson it might be a debate. I don’t see that happening. The Buckeyes are going to try to do what ND did and shorten the game with their running game.
Is this a Jaguars forum now? 25% chance is pretty high. I would say more like 1%, just because anything is possible in life. Yeah, it is very frustrating.
I know, glad I am not the only one. He has a very punchable face. He seems to be a good dude though, I'll get over it lol
It may not be a Jags forum, but it does make a difference when JD talks to our head coach candidates. Now there is no question that Fields & Wilson will be available to us at #2. If he stayed in school we wouldn't know who would be available. It just makes the job of HC a little more desirable knowing who will be available.
Yeah, would certainly be nice to have this beast in green, and I cried a bit as well, but such is life. While certainly expected, it is a good to know for sure as it avoids a scenario where Trevor stays and Jags get Fields. While Wilson is also a good choice, I just feel Fields is another level above as a prospect. If nothing else just injury history, competition, and sustained multi year success puts Fields clearly above Zach, who only had one good year against weak competition and has very concerning shoulder injury history coupled with smaller size. As I mentioned in another post, if you look at previous drafts, Fields probably goes #1 overall in every draft since Luck, except perhaps Burrow, and if he wins on Monday probably including Burrow as well. Zach is likely top 5 in most of these, top 10, but I doubt he would have been #1. Now we just need to wait for Monday, and then for Fields to declare, and we will still be in good shape.
Haha, yeah, I was just kidding with ya. Still upset the Jets lost out on Lawrence. You are right though, it is somewhat Jets related that he declared.
Do you think a guy in Northern England would like that face and hair? Get your hair cut son it isn't the 1970's
How many times was Namath told this. What differentiated jets and Giants fans in the 1960s and 1970s was Jets fans ability to tolerate and embrace different lifestyles and views. Giants fans all looked the same, were as boring as dirt, endorsed the military buzz cut, were Nixon fans and supported the war. Jet fans liked and celebrated rebels. That is our heritage as Jets fans. While I can understand not liking TL's long hair I do appreciate his desire to look different and have his own style.
Can I guess at twice Cheers for singling me out for it though, despite 3 others commenting they would like to punch his face in plus it was more of a joke on Northern England than my own desire to strip the hair from his head, the English guy I quoted would have understood
History shows that draft rankings in December are not what they are in April. When Arizona took QB 1st no way that was set in Dec... they hired coach, coach chose to go with it and trade Rosen. Same with Baker, NO ONE had baker going #1 in Dec! But he did. So no way to tell if Lawrence will be 100% picked by Jax. I could see Jax going different direction depending on the coach/gm. I could see ironically Lawrence fall to jets, I could see JD give a draft pick up, I could see Lawrence not wanting to play in Jax, etc. I could see fields light it up at combine. So many factors, so hard to definitely talk how it plays out. At this point, the odds are Jax takes Lawrence, but they is a lot of time until End of April. My opinion, jets done with Darnold, if not Lawrence, then another Qb. But who knows till we get new staff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
