The reason we are seeing a lot of negative posts right now is because a lot of us old school fans have been down this road before.... 10-6 and barely getting in the playoffs, only to lose...

Think of our best seasons in the last 15 years: 1998 - we start Glen Foley, only to go with Vinny, then go to the AFC championship game.

2002 - Chad comes in and leads us to the division. Then we whoop the colts.

Both seasons were magical, but neither were even Super Bowl appearances. I'm sorry but I want more!! This season has been awesome. Expecting 4 wins and getting to the playoffs is AMAZING! But we need to make progress next year. Is Chad the future? Is he good enough to win it all?? Should we stick with him for the next 5 years and except 9-10 wins and a playoff appearance every other year as good? I say no...

But for now... beat OAKLAND and lets see this team do the impossible... wouldn't it be nice if the JETS can have a 2001 season like the Patriots did? Come from no where to win it all? This is the season to do it - when literally ANY GIVEN SUNDAY a team can win....

...and by the way - my avatar to the left that I made in March can still come true!!! (I'm still hoping for AVATAR of the year 2006!)

Man, I hate this excuse. I've been a Jets fan my whole life, and I'm almost 40. You don't see me whining. In fact, at this point, I see NOTHING for anyone to be complaining about AT THIS TIME. They are one win away from playoff berth in a season many, including me, saw them going 8-8 TOPS. But some people just can't enjoy the ride. They need to find and accentuate the negative.

But I don't believe that comes from being a long time fan of a franchise that has historically struggled. I believe that it comes from the person just being a negative person in general.

It was meant to be. A kid on a commercial a few years back said so, 2006 is OUR year. GO JETS!

Yeah it was John Abe asking this kid a bunch of questions in a classroom and the kid was getting every question right. So then he asked him "When's the next time the jets win the superbowl?" and he replied "2006."

I've been watching Jets games for almost 30years so I understand why some fans don't want to get their hopes up. Still...Its hard to not get excited about where this franchise might be heading with Mangini at the controls for what could be a long time. You just need to keep things in perspective. This is a team with some issues that will most certainly be addressed during the off season. It was supposed to be a rebuilding year, and we will likely be a 10-6 wild card team. Thats pretty exciting, and no matter happens after the Raiders game, this year has been great, relative to my expectations. I seriously doubt we will win the SB, but I can't think of any team we could face in the NFL, that the Jets absolutely can't beat

Dude, I'm as negative as anybody when it comes to the Jets (35 years of suffering).........However, I was so down on the Jets in the offseason, that I was not even looking forward to the season.......No one, and I mean no one, thought the Jets would win more than 8 games, so to me, this is just gravy and I will enjoy the ride......................

I'm a relatively new Jets fan, I'm 23 and started to get really interested in football and the Jets in 98. In my short time as a fan, there have been a lot of great moments, and great teams. It's been so much fun to be a Jets fan, and I'm so glad I didn't become a Giants fan (although they have training camp on the college campus where i'm at right now).

Anway, I wanted to add to the sentiment that there should be way more positivity when the head coach and other coaches are so consistent and smart. Here's to a good playoffs!

... that was funny about the commercial ... what the kid didn't let abe in on was that the jets would win it without him in '06 ... heheheheheh

does anyone remember how 1998 ended, and how 99 began? WE ARE JETS FANS. FANS OF FUTILITY! 30 min from a SB birth....then....the kickoff began a 30 min meltdown that ended my happy drunken, stoned singing and led me into a fuzzy rage. then, in 1999 we were a leading pre-season SB favorite. not even 1 game of that excitement. Vinny and his achilles tendon couldnt get into the 4th qtr.

i love the jets, and i would trade 25 of the 26 series wins by the yanks (2000 stays, the mets can eat shit) just to see the jets IN the SB. but every year, something happens....doug brien anyone? im used to it, but not immune. every year it hurts just as much, if not more than the year before.

ill sit and watch them suck (that arizona game we won in the 1-15 season was great)...but i know, in the end, something will happen to derail any champinship for the jets. ive accepted it, and im sure most of you have. its just the stuff that comes along with loving the jets.

EDIT: ive been a jet fan since the mid 80's, and im 29. in the immortal words of C-3PO...we're doomed...

hahaha... we weren't supposed to win 6 games this year. Instead we may only lose 6 and we get a shot at the playoffs. I don't think our chances are all that good in making it to the big show, but if you don't make the playoffs first, your chances are zero. Getting in the playoffs is a boon to this team in the long run. They (new guys) earn some experience and the team builds confidence to carry into next year. It is a win-win, even if we lose.

I'm 47 years old and have been a fan since 1965. I have lived through all the disappointments. The Jets' success this season is completely unexpected. There is a huge difference between 10-6 when everyone expected 6-10 and 10-6 when everyone expected 13-3. This year is the former and not the latter. A playoff appearance was beyond all expectations. Enjoy the ride. We may have caught lightening in a bottle with this CS and front office.

We all want a SB but to criticize a tea for reaching postseason is ludicrous especially when it's the NY jets who have EIGHT total PO appearances in 46 years of football. We have a new staf, it's a process. getting in this year will be a big deal, now over the next few year if we can't make a run it will be disappointing but any Jet fan who isn't doing cartwheels right now i have to question whether they are really a fan.

    Thats about it.
Yes we're 9-6 now maybe 10-6??? If after 1 season we are this good , how good are we going to be next year?
My advice is to not keep looking behind you, the bad days of Kotite etc... are gone. There is no coach in the NFL that I would rather have than Mangini and with Tannenbaum giving him help and direction am convinced that our Jets are going in the right direction.

With parity in the league showing its hand to a great degree, I no longer think that a "dynastic rise to greatness" is the norm anymore. Witness the super bowl winners of the last decade, and look what has happened to both the Seahawks and Steelers... last year's thugs are this year's duds.

"Teams" per se are no longer dynasties... systems are. Look at NE. Organizations must be blessed with a solid system that works in the league; those that don't get abandoned, and quickly.

Enjoy this while we can; NOTHING is guaranteed next year, not even a winning season, and especially not a further run in the POs.

NE has formed a dynasty over the last 5 years . In recent times the 49ers did it.
What we have in Mangini is someone who reinvents the team constantly , like BB has done with the Pats.
