While Mayfield may not literally be Sanchez he still has one HUGE similarity. He is in a stacked offense and he still has to rely on the running game to carry the team. When their fate is put on his arm things start to go astray.

Yeah TBH I'll be surprised if he even plays. Rib injuries are always far worse the next day/week.

It's a pretty similar situation to the one Sanchez was in. Sanchez had a better defense though. The Browns are the 21st scoring defense this year. The Rex teams were top 5-10 if I recall.

Baker has put up significantly better numbers than Sanchez did and Baker has a slightly worse situation. Comparing him to Sanchez is a huge stretch.

So Baker has almost as many TD's as Sanchez in 814 less pass attempts?

I'm no Baker fan but he's way better than Sanchez ever was.

again stats. I could also say sanchez made AFC champtionship the 1st 2 years of his career. baker didn't even make a playoff his 1st 2 seasons. it doesn't mean anything though

#1 and #5 in back to back seasons...Browns won't go far if they can't chuck it on occasion.

How do they not mean anything? They don't mean everything but they certainly mean something.

As a fan of a team that has a bottom dweller at quarterback, sometimes other fans believe that everyone who isn't a top 5 player at the position sucks.

Baker doesn't suck. He's played pretty well this year, regardless if he's had a good supporting cast. Same thing with Cousins.

But these guys "suck". I wish our guy sucked enough to throw 26 or 35 touchdowns and 3x their touchdowns to interceptions ratio.

  10. Hey if you like Fields that much its easy! And im all for building an O around a QB within the same draft. Even go as far as to say im all for drafting Fields IF & ONLY IF thats the exact plan

I just dont think thats what will happen. Theyll find a way to go D w the rest of those picks. And fields will end up w the same issues as Darnold & Sanchez.

Mayfield has all the talent in the world around him. One of the most talented WRs of our generation on one side, a pro bowl level possession wideout on the other and 2 of the best RBs in the NFL, nobody has that kind of luxury.

he and only him is holding back that offense. I'm honestly surprised they didn't switch to Case Keenum

He threw 26 TD's and 8 INT's. One game he didn't even have an NFL quality starting WR and OBJ didn't play a full season.

I'm not saying he's awesome but Christ, he's way better than Sanchez ever was. Did you not watch Nacho play? He was one of the most inaccurate QB's I've ever seen. Makes Sam look like Brees.

Yeah people are forgetting how bad Sanchez was. He was horrendous.

So? Sanchez had Santonio Holmes and Plaxico. His teams didn't have stars at RB like the Browns but it was still a top 5 running team in the NFL with a phenomenal offensive line and a better defense than Baker has.

Sanchez played on a better team and had way worse numbers. You cannot compare him to Baker. Our fans have this weird Baker hatred, maybe salty that he's so much better than Darnold.

I think your approach is the most sensible. Nothing should be done or even discussed until a new coach is in place. No way should Douglas knee cap the dude before he even get's here. Right now the Jets are pretty attractive minus the record of course. They have Douglas, multiple first round picks, a top shelf offensive tackle and 100 million dollars to spend on free agency and the choice of 2 of the top 3 QB's coming out.

the Browns had the easiest freakin schedule. The 3 worst teams: (Jets, Jags, Texans), the Bengals twice, and 4 games against the trash NFC East. that's 9 wins right there.

OH wait- they LOST to our Jets. Mayfield & Goff the only QBs who didn't light up this defense... because they both suck

I see a team in Cleveland with an insane amount of talent that is gonna be wasted because of the QB. He makes funny commercials though.

Sanchez only played with Holmes and Plaxico for 1 year. And even then OBJ and Landry are like a hundred times better than Holmes and an out of shape paroled Plaxico Burress.

And the Jets had nothing like Chubb and Hunt, not individually let alone the two of them together!

Its crazy, that offense is stacked. they shoulda switched to Keenum. If I were them I would keep the gang together and swing for the fences by acquiring someone like Stafford or Matt Ryan, they could win the SB with that offense

The Browns lost their top 4 WR's a day before the game. Maybe that had something to do with Baker not lighting up the Jets? Idiot.

It's not that simple. Take the first franchise QB? What have the Jets been trying to do for the last 4 decades and, there is no gurantee they will get it right this year.

I'm not sure what it means, but whenever I watch Fields highlight videos, the plays are almost exclusively runs and bombs. Zach Wilson makes all kinds of throws regularly and accurately. Any comments?
