I don't think that happens myself, but if it does....IF...you gotta give the new HC a few games to see if things have changed.

Ryan Tannehill got away from Adam Gase and he's kicking ass.

He's spot on with everyhting, although I still think we need to take Fields at #2.

I do not want Sam Darnold anymore

this is interesting....I think a lot of the behind the scenes stuff happens and it’s based on relationships. I would bet that when discussing a trade, they do ask who they would take, and if the relationship is a good one, they’d like as not be honest otherwise they would break that trust and never really be able to trade again....I’d be curious how much of that really happens and how honest the GMs are at that level. I get they’d never give their hand away and not in public, but in a one on one phone call man to man, I wonder if they’d be honest

Sorry...not to be rude, but I got a chuckle out of the fact that you correctly identified the difference between complementary and complimentary, but then used the word EFFECT when it should have been AFFECT when talking about how those shitty situations AFFECT play calling.

    anyways...there’s PSA alert number two

    :)

More likely is the anti-Fields crowd was loud before the game, and the pro-Fields crowd was loud after the game.

    Impossible. Instant career suicide.

No NFL GM is going back on his word with another GM. They do nothing but talk to each other all day long. Their whole profession is built on mutual trust.

Yeah, I was in the newspaper business too, starting from when I was about ten. Sixty papers a day, six days a week; the customers paid thirty cents, I got eight cents of that. Sounds like $4.80 a week plus tips which came out to about the same and yep, there were people who tipped nothing. Same as the post office “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds" A little less than an hour a day so it probably came out to about two bucks an hour except, of course if it was snowing and you were pulling a sled instead of riding a bike. And at least one day a week the paper was 150 - 200 pages - sometimes had to make two trips.

I basically agree, and would hope that no GM would ever do that. For some GM perhaps who's on the verge of getting fired anyway and who will never work as a GM again, he might think that he has nothing to lose and could possibly save his job if he could cheat the other team out of a pick or two, get a great player and prevent that rival team from getting that same player. With the way the world is today, I wouldn't put past some GM.

No, I don't. Based on 20 years of teaching people how to use their bodies to achieve specific results, I'm pretty certain that I know what would happen with Sam and the team if he's back as the starter. I liked Sam and rooted for him, but at this point, I'm sick of him and never want to see him in a Jets uniform again. I don't have an emotional attachment to him as you and some other posters obviously do. You just don't want to believe your eyes, and you want to believe that some how magically, miraculously he will get better and quickly. It's. not. going. to. happen. If Sam is back I'm done. If somehow a miracle has happened and he is playing much better, I'm sure I would hear about it, and could possibly change my mind, but would probably be so disgusted and sick of all the crap with the Jets over 55 years that I simply wouldn't care. This season has been exhausting and with all the crazy conspiracy theories, cynicism, and gross negativity here recently, I think I may need a LONG break from this site anyway.

They're not trading one of the best QBs in the league that keeps them in every game.

They might Trade out of the #2 but I think they keep Darnold no way are they going into with Flacco as the starter they have 1 more year of Darnold as cheap and a optional 5th year doubt they will dump a 23 year old QB without a replacement. Especially for just a second round pick. Think if anything they keep Darnold trade back and build around him and he doesn't turn around move up after the rebuild to grab their QB.

You can't build around Darnold. That's absurd! He's the worst QB in the NFL. So that would be one dumb mistake. Passing on a QB this year, would be another dumb mistake, and then having to burn draft capital in a future year even if there is a QB who is as good a prospect as Fields and the Jets are able to trade up, would be yet another dumb mistake, and then that new QB may not be a fit for the system they built around Sam, so that would be yet another dumb mistake, when they could just do the smart thing and take Fields and #2 and build the new offense around him.

I trust JD will do the obvious thing here. Taking Fields and trading Darnold is just not a rocket science at this point. I know some fans are thinking about getting value out of #2, etc, but I trust that an intelligent GM, which so far JD showed to be, realizes that Fields IS the value, and we will have him in Jets uniform pretty soon.

So, the "big trade" is getting rid of Sam. And I don't think that trade is even a big one. Put yourself say in Patriots shoes for example. You just saw Sam play out this year, and when you take him you take a hit for one year on CAP. Obviously you are not picking up 5th year. He will need to be a back-up at this point. How much do you give up, if anything, to take him. I think 3d rounder is absolutely best case scenario, but likely 4th. So, it's not even a "big trade". We might even end up doing the same thing Miami did with Rosen, which is to draft a QB and release Sam. I still think someone will offer a pick or a swap of picks and we will take it, but releasing Sam is not out of the question. With Fields and Morgan, we could benefit with someone like Flacco, a vet who can teach them a lot more than with Sam.

Why in gods good name would you waste a #2 overall pick on a tier 2 QB when you already have one under contract????? Extend the tier 2 QB you already have to a team friendly extension then use that #2 overall pick on MUCH needed players.

We can get a QB at 2 and much needed players with the treasure trove of picks we already have.

Who are you saying is a tier 2 QB? No post that I've seen has suggested using the #2 on a tier 2 QB. If you're thinking that Fields is a tier 2 QB, you are totally mistaken imo.

Not sure if this has been proposed yet but would Sam for Wentz make sense?

Is Wentz ruined or just need a change of scenery?

It’s been thrown about but the contract Wentz has is not worth it at this point.
