If this is Douglas' list of candidates, then things may be no better. Brian Daboll and Greg Roman should be on that list. They have proved that they tailor their system around the QBs strengths and weaknesses. AFAIK Matt Campbell and Arthur Smith are the only other ones on that list who have done that with their QB. Maybe Dan Mullen has, but he hasn't done anything special with Florida to merit such consideration imo. I don't want a DC as HC and I don't think I'd want Bieniemy.
I sure hope that Douglas doesn't think that way! That approach is lacking in confidence, and can result in not making a good hire. Previous relationship should have zero bearing on his decision imo. He should be looking for the most qualified candidate who will insist that his coordinators adapt the systems the team will use to the talents of the players that they will be building around, and who will be a good CEO, will be able to make adjustments, manage the game, motivate players, and help establish the new culture. If that's someone he knows and has worked with before, great, but that should be the last consideration. If he limits himself to coaches he knows and has worked with, then Douglas may not be the right man for the GM job.
Taking him away from Buffalo shouldn't be the reason we hire him, but it sure won't hurt matters any. Their next HC may not be willing to adapt his system and may try to force Allen to fit what his system demands, and that could cause Allen to regress. IMO Daboll is one of the best qualified candidates out there. If Douglas doesn't even interview him, I will lose trust in and respect for Douglas.
He is literally either the ONLY one, or part of an exceedingly small group of HCs who have gotten fired from one job, then went immediately to another and succeeded. It's ridiculous to cite an exception to a rule, rather than the rule. Do you want another Gase?
I never realized our teams President name was Hymie....What is this guys job anyway?Other then warming up Chris Johnsons car and cleaning snow off of it.
If we go with a college head coach, I'm really liking the idea of Pep Hamilton as the offensive coordinator. If we go with Daboll it'll probably be an assistant he's worked with recently.
Per Tom Pelissero "The jets and Texans have put in requests to interview Colts DC Matt Eberflus for their head coaching jobs"
Well, this can be put to rest. Thank God the Johnson's have come to their senses. https://www.ganggreennation.com/2021/1/4/22212998/report-joe-douglas-will-run-jets-coaching-search Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk
Per Adam Schefter "Jets Owner Woody Johnson, Ambassador to the UK, is not expected to sit in on upcoming HC interview, per sources. Others, led by CEO Christopher Johnson, will run the search and hire the next HC. W. Johnson will be aware of developments, just not a part of the interviews"
