Gase was the worst hire as HC. Nobody liked him from the start. Glad he's gone but we still have the Johnsons as owners.
It will be like a rubber stamp. They will be writing the paychecks. They aren't going to go against Douglas' recommendation. They would risk his quitting, and he's about the only thing they have going for them at the moment.
Nah, I think he took the job knowing this and he's a glorified yes man. Other coaches turned the job down because that very reason but he took it.....he'll make a list and the J's will pick the cheapest one.
That has been their history, but I hope this marks a new era. If not, well, it may be the end for me. Fingers crossed.
That is a really cynical, negative, pessimistic take! How in the heck can Douglas be a yes man when he's the one who will be conducting the search and making recommendations, and he is the guy who will be working with the new HC? You have zero respect of Douglas. I don't believe he ever would have taken the Jets job if he was going to be a yes man. He knew other teams were interested in him. The Eagles had denied a couple of teams talking to Douglas before the Jets did. He knew it was a matter of time.
Douglas is not quitting. He got a 6 year guarantee for a reason. What this job looks like to him now is what it normally looks like to a GM hired with a 4 year guarantee. That should be enough to get the job done.
https://jetswire.usatoday.com/2021/...fired-lamical-perine-mekhi-becton-ty-johnson/ I find this to be testament of how bad a coach he is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Which is far too long when their incompetence has long before that been exposed. There is no job security without success - not for me, not for you - not, especially, for an NFL coach. Now let's get on with getting the right guy here before the buffet of available coaches has been picked bare.
