Don’t know anything about who is the best QB but if JD can trade the 2nd pick for high 2021 draft picks and still grab a solid QB in either first rd or 2rd rd, I’ll go that that.

I don't think Sam ever recovered mentally from the beating he took against the Pats and Jags the following week last year. What Gase did leaving Sam in the Pats game with no protection in 5 man wides when he was clearly unable to play was criminal.

I don't think Sam has ever recovered from that beating. He is nervous in the pocket, forces plays or waits to long. He no longer plays with the instincts and confidence he had his rookie year. It was those instincts, pocket presence and ablity to extend plays that made his upside so huge. Playing scared he is lost and it is painful to watch. He needs to go to a good team where he can sit and learn for a year or two and rebuild himself mentally.

Let's take what we can get for him this off season. His value will only go down.

I just listened to it again and no he doesn’t he’s better. His evaluation of Fields is really good for us jet fans though.

He’s actually one of Fields’ most alleged “haters” (air quotes) in the past 2 years. Hater = he’s been critical of Fields.

Thanks again. I finally got around to watching these (although I admit to skipping through them quickly). He has more accuracy than I first thought, and he certainly has a strong arm, but his lack of actual games played and the level of competition are concerning. I think he may be someone who slides to the late first round, and if so I would be happy if JD took him after having traded out of #2 for a bunch of picks.

I still prefer Fields, Wilson, and Lawrence though.

I don’t rely too much on others opinions on prospects. I trust my eyes and feel I have a good idea what a football player looks like.

Fields to me flashes both brilliance and mediocrity. When he faced stiff defensive football teams Fields really struggled with his awareness in the pocket, his progressions down field and his protections. These are all qualities you need to have to be a successful pro QB. You can still win in college without it but it the pros you turn into Darnold who struggles with the same issues.

The flip side is he’s a gamer, with ideal measurables, strong arm, deep ball accuracy and a run threat.

I see his floor as RG3 and his ceiling as Russell Wilson.

Imo the best reason to move on from Sam would be financial. I think Sam gives us the same chance of winning or higher vs these Hot college prospects. Next years QB will work with a new Offense, new coordinator, new personnel, etc.

I dont think Jets Coaches have played to Darnolds strengths nor surrounded him with solid talent in key positions. Sam is still 23 a young QB. Has he been beaten up, and possibly damaged? Quite possible. Personally I think he needs better coach more than anything. That can happen with the Jets or any other team.

Personally I hope we stick with Sam but cant hold anything against Joe D for making a switch at QB. It will really suck to see Sam do well with another team. But this is the Jets so anything can happen.

Sir. Trask and Lance are still in play for second round if we decide to trade down right? I say let's keep them as options.

Hey Rockins. I also soured on Fields after he struggled but I am no college guy. So my opinion is worthless. But if Fields has a strong arm, deep ball accuracy and a great run threat than he will be very close to Wilson if he is coached up right. So I say sign me up.

IMO the best reason to move on from Sam is that he isn't a good QB.

Yes I believe that’s his ceiling. Man it would be nice if it works out that way.

Darnold misses more wide open receivers than any QB I can think of in recent years. He rarely hits on progression 2 or 3. I don't think he's worth keeping. I just want JD to make the right decision and make good signing in FA and the right draft picks.

It’s actually embarrassing for Jets fans and their reputation that 40% of people picked Sam Darnold.
