I decided to conduct this draft as if JD didn't like any of the QBs, got no decent trade-down offers, didn't want Sewell, had signed Thuney in FA, was going to go with Sam at QB, and wanted Parsons as an Edge. I wanted to add a TE earlier, but they all went in between my picks. Poljan is a converted QB and doesn't have much experience. He probably will never be a blocker, but at 6'7" would provide a HUGE target for Sam on 3rd downs and in the Red Zone after some development. I figured Thuney would play LG, Smith would man RG, and Carman could back up both LT and RT and then move to RT in a year or two when Fant's contract has expired or the Jets are ready to move on. Adding Waddle, Williams, Newsome and Ross would help Sam a lot, and Parsons could help take our D to another level, make us forget all about Adams, and Carter could help in the secondary. 2. New York Jets Micah Parsons LB, Penn State 26. New York Jets Jaylen Waddle WR, Alabama 34. New York Jets Trey Smith IOL, Tennessee 66. New York Jets Javonte Williams RB, North Carolina 89. New York Jets Jackson Carman OT, Clemson 103. New York Jets Dazz Newsome WR, North Carolina 142. New York Jets T.J. Carter CB, Memphis 150. New York Jets Justyn Ross WR, Clemson 193. New York Jets Tony Poljan TE, Virginia
Nice job considering the conditions you listed. Obviously Parsons should solve some of the outside pass rushing woes. Waddle will compliment Mims very well. Carman is an underrated tackle and may turn into a fine RT down the road. Justyn Ross is also very underrated. This draft would improve the team across the board. The skill players are now improved and the OL is now just about complete considering Thuney and Smith bolstering the inside. I think most fans would be happy with this.
I'm not sold on Parsons and after our experience with Ghoulston and Lee, I'm wary of anything other than Chase Young or Nick Bosa-types at LB coming out of college.
I like how this one turned out. Plenty of balance where offense and defense both get plenty of help. YOUR TEAM: NEW YORK JETS GAME OVER! I generally dont do these, because the trade backs are so unrealistic it looks silly. I tried to keep the trades realistic-ish, but by the end of the draft, I realized that wasnt the case whatsoever. Having said that, if Douglas pulled this off, the man gets a monument. Edit- Cant post picture 5. Zach Wilson, QB, BYU 27. Rashawn Slate, OT, Northwestern 34. Kadariuis Toney, WR, Florida 41. I wasn't able to get an IOL in this draft (unless Faalele can play OG), but I think this would be a dynamic offense. If JD signed one of Thuney/Scherff in FA and either Clark or Faalele can man the RG spot, this offense should be able to make some noise. I only did 5 rounds but would have taken Greg Eisworth II at S. in the 6th round. This gives us our FQB, blazing speed and playmaking ability with Toney and Hawkins, power in Sermon and Faalele, another potential Edge and CB depth. At WR we'd have Crowder, Mims, Marshall and Toney, plus someone signed in FA. At RB we'd have Sermon, Hawkins, Johnson, and Adams. We'd have excellent depth and versatility. 2. @KurtTheJetsFan Am curious what you think of this draft I'm really happy with the first 4 picks. I'd rather have gotten a TE with the second pick of the 3rd round, but none was there. Ford seems like he could provide competition for Davis at SS, and possibly free him up to be a ball hawk. It's unusual to draft two RBs, but Sermon was too good a value in the 4th round, and again there was no TE there. I think Williams and Sermon could make a devastating RB combo and would take a LOT of pressure off of our QB. I think Browning and Johnson could contribute on D, and McKitty has potential at TE. 2. Love it except i wouldnt take Toney till round 2 & i dont like Wyatt Davis. Im warming up to Fields maybe being the intangible LEADER this team needs. Toney is a very exciting player who would compliment Mims very well. Davis just isnt dynamic in my opinion. He has very good lower flex & moves decent. Certainly carries out his assignment but not overpowering or overly athletic.
Thanks for your feedback. On the draftnetwork Toney is going in the bottom of the 1st round every time. That's why I took him there to get him. I wondered if that wasn't too high for him. Is it safe to assume that you would prefer Trey Smith over Davis? If not, who do you prefer at OG? Also what are your thoughts on Patrick Johnson and Shaka Toney as Edge rushers?
Yeah wouldnt be surprised if Toney ends up going late 1 bc He’ll have a top end combine but hes not quite twitchy enough for RD1 IMO & he does most of his damage in the intermediate portions of field. Hes a prime target in RD 2 but kind of resided to the notion that someone will reach in RD 1. Love Smith even in late 1st & even w Sewell at #2. Gotta make sure his medical checks out w his history of bloodclots however.
I like Parsons, but don't like the idea of taking an off-ball linebacker and trying to fit him as an edge player with the second overall pick.

I agree. It was just an experiment. I don't think that JD would ever do that (at least I hope not), but wanted to see how a draft might play out if Douglas couldn't trade down and he didn't like any of the QBs. I thought and still do that taking Sewell would be totally a dumb thing to do. At least Parsons is a blue-chip prospect and an impact player, and would make our D much better, and I would prefer JD taking a player like Parsons over Sewell.

No trades and not counting an extra pick for darnold it's early for me still but anyway Round 1 Pick 2: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State (A+) Round 1 Pick 27: Terrace Marshall, WR, LSU (A-) Round 2 Pick 2: Walker Little, OT, Stanford (A-) Round 3 Pick 2: Jayson Oweh, DE/OLB, Penn State (A+) Round 3 Pick 26: Rodarius Williams, CB, Oklahoma State (A+) Round 4 Pick 2: Alijah VeraTucker, OG, USC (A+) Round 5 Pick 2: KJ Britt, ILB/OLB, Auburn (A+) Round 5 Pick 11: Kylin Hill, RB, Mississippi State (A) Round 7 Pick 27: Deontay Anderson, FS/SS, Houston (B+) At this point darnold doesn't look like the guy. I think we are forced into a QB at 2 right now. At this point I like fields more then wilson but not impressed with either for the 2nd pick we need WR help i took terrance marshall who was top left on the board. he's got size, speed, good hands and route running. all around solid WR to pair with mims outside continuing with fixing the offense i grab walker little in the 2nd round. he'll be our RT in 2022 and for the next decade to bookend with becton. fant will be released after 2021 to save money finally make my 1st pick on defense. I add oweh an edge rusher to go opposite huff. sticking with D in the 3rd I grab a CB. an off ball CB with good size and speed. we need to add to that group that right now is hall, guidry, jackson and bless in the 4th I go back to offense to grab a future starting OG in veratucker in the 5th I take kj britt. a versatile LBer who likely projects as an ILB for us. cashman is an injury risk. we'll need a 4th guy to go with mosley and hewitt. with our 2nd 5th rounder I grab a RB. hill has character concerns so he'll fall but he also has talent. i'm not a perine fan i'd like to see hill with ty and adams but i think we keep perine and release ty or adams with our last pick i get a back-up SS. davis and maye will start but we need depth. anderson is an in the box tough safety and can pair nice with maye while davis has the versatility to play both positions.
