Schefter gets paid millions to be an insider, but that tweet is the most obvious information of all time. It is not actually news.
Who says we wont trade them both? Okay, its time for a genuine rebuild folks. Not grab a QB and try to piece together an 8-8 team. We are in a division that is leaving us behind because Buffalo and Miami have executed genuine rebuilds. Certainly BB wont be far behind. A genuine rebuild is when you cash out and start building with just your young high cards. The Bills dumped their old base, then traded the pick that would select Mahomes and got 2 pro bowlers and another pick from it. Then the next season they used their accrued capital to move up and grab the QB they wanted. Now they are winning the division. The dolphins did the same thing with the focus on a total house cleaning after Gase left. They dumped everyone and built up a ton of draft capital. Now they have an amazingly talented young team who only needs another player or two. From their trades they still have two 1s and two 2s this draft, so they will be ready next season. People act like that is where we are now, but were not even close. Just yesterday Brad reminded me about the Browns path out of mediocrity. If you recall they would draft top player after top player, often a QB, and never got anywhere. Then they traded their base and traded the #2 pick to the Eagles (who took Wentz) and got even more picks - an additional 1,2,3, and 4. Now look at them, finally out of the basement. There is a difference between a genuine rebuild and patch work. Do we want a new car or to just put Bondo on this one? The future is young talent and teams who stock up on the most will have the most future success. We have already started with Adams, Richardson, and Bell (though Bell got us nothing but freed up future cap). But we still have a lot of assets to convert. Both Sam and the #2 are included. It is not really that important who plays QB next season. In a genuine rebuild its simply a rebuild year, and time to develop the young talent we get this season. Once that talent is put to use, and picks are accrued, we are ready to find our QB. But this takes some patience, not pin balling from QB to QB. Its not good for us - its not good for the QB. People need to step back and take a breath. I'm almost positive JD understands what i just posted. This is a deal making year - a genuine rebuild year - and your patience will be appreciated. Every high draft pick gained should be a celebration. If we don't do this right we will be in the basement for another 10 years. Both Sam and the #2 are gone. But ultimately that will be a good thing.
Didn't even bother reading most of that. Sorry, lol. Because Jets are gonna pick a QB at #2. Whether that's Fields, Wilson, or even Lawrence - remains to be seen. Jets can also draft a QB at #2 and still build around him. They have a bunch of cap space and picks for the next couple of seasons to do so, but they may never pick this high again for a while. It's going to be a QB at #2. That said, Sam may be traded if they get good value for him, but maybe they keep him one more season and to compete against the QB they draft. I can MAYBE see a small trade back to #5 if they like Wilson - since I believe he could be had there, but that'll be the extent of it.
Imagine if you were a GM and traded #2 away to a team that drafts Fields with it. Who proceeds to have a excellent career. Nightmarish feeling that would put even greater pressure on you as a GM
It does if it gives you another 2nd round pick plus a lower pick. That would give the Jets 6 picks in the top 100.
Optimism and Positive attitude trumps everything in the end. Keep it up. I’m with you on this. Our day is coming.
If he can get a 2nd + he needs to pull that trigger as fast as possible. Even if he doesn’t draft Fields trade his ass
Common sense would say that you're right, but every time it seems like the Jets should get some run, they always get bitch-faced by the media in favor of something else that has been discussed to death already. I foresee you fast-forwarding all the way through most of your DVR'd episodes only to trip over a commercial that shows a Jets player in uniform for half a second near the end of every recording.
Could it be a swap of 1sts with the lions and stafford? Douglas tries to get an established qb, tries to sign robinson at wr and uses the draft picks to build around 3-5 years of stafford.
There's no back page headline for a genuine rebuild and that's really all the Dipshit Brothers actually care about. Good post though.
