That's just one link. Tell me again how he doesn't have a great arm and is not accurate on deep balls and throws in general? Lol. Clearly, we are at an impasse then. We'll just agree to disagree. Whatever you might say, Fields clearly has the arm, talent, and attitude to be a good NFL talented QB. He's also good prospect for the modern NFL game. Whether he succeeds or not in the NFL, that we won't know yet. We'll see who ends up being right. I think like almost any QB, it depends on where he gets drafted into and who the coach/coaching staff is, and the players brought in.
I know this wasn’t written by you, an expert, but the stats and film seem to disagree: https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio...ields-was-one-of-the-nations-best-play-action
The Jets haven't been in a draft position this good in quite some time. Over a decade if memory serves. As of right now, I would continue restocking the roster with high level talent. Yep, I would trade out of the #2 and try my best to literally fleece picks from whomever wants the #2. With that much draft capital, JD could literally take 3 years off his rebuild if he drafts carefully and shrewdly. The Jet could be relevant again in '22 and ready to compete by '25 at the latest. Of course all of this depends on THIS draft. This could be the draft that finally gets the Jets out of the desert of despair. This will be JD's second draft and there's really no room for error. We can't afford another "Idzik 12".
Again, you’re the expert and the be-all-end-all so obviously my word doesn’t mean as much, but you can also watch the film to see that it’s good.
Don't bother. He clearly has some sort of vendetta against Fields that goes beyond anything lol. One thing that I will say in zace's favor is that Zach Wilson does seem to have a more "pro-ready" NFL game than Fields. The only real concern is the level of competition he's faced, one season of real good play, and the two shoulder injuries he's had. His weight doesn't really bother me as he can/will likely bulk up a little bit in the NFL.
Thanks. I like his clear explanations. That said, I really got the sense that he was cherrypicking clips to support his conclusion - who doesn't?. Nonetheless, there's no denying that there are some holes in Fields's game, so this serves to help "pump the brakes" a little. But here's my take after watching Fields in two games (NW and Clemson) and a fair amount of video: The problem areas in the above analysis aren't widespread, and they're correctable or improvable. My earlier concerns with Fields were based upon my sense that he wasn't processing quickly enough, and he was a 1-read QB, but at this point, I see that isn't the case. Does he make mistakes? Yes, but all QBs do. And while he looked All-World against Clemson, he was helped a lot by Sermon's monster game - Clemson had to respect the run and couldn't focus completely on stopping Fields, while Lawrence's run game was weak by comparison and the OSU "D" could really focus on stopping the passing attack. Still, Fields was decisive, smart, he showed more than enough arm strength - 55 and 60 yard in the air TD passes, and ample zip fitting some balls into tight windows all attest to that. But what most impressed me was his will to win, to prove himself, and especially after he got wrecked on that tackle. A lot of players would not have come back into the game after a hit like that. He played like he was on a mission and he backed it up. I've been a big Wilson booster, and still like him a lot. I'd love to see this same analyst break his game down like this, but I have seen others. What concerns me about Wilson is the shoulder injuries, and one video I just watched mentioned a hand injury also. It prompts the question: is Wilson too small and too reckless? But the biggest "concern" isn't really one of mine, but of Douglas: I don't think Douglas would take a QB like Wilson. I don't have any substantial reason for that belief, and I hope I'm wrong, but unless Wilson were to fall to the late first or the second round, I don't think JD uses a first round pick on him. TBF, I'm not sure Douglas will use a first round pick on ANY QB this year. Anyway, that's my take as of now, but I remain open minded and subject to changing it.
They said the same thing about Russell Wilson, zace, his deep ball was not thrown effortlessly so they said he had a weak arm... There is velocity to Fields' passes, to me that indicates a strong arm. There are so many other variables to success at QB so no one can truly tell who is going to succeed and who will suck. So we've all been right and wrong about guys. I just happen to think Fields' arm is better than you think and I will be interested in the advanced metrics, particularly velocity metrics as IMO that is more important than distance since its the 15/20 yard out routes that are more important than the rainbow deep passes.
It's pretty easy to proclaim you hit more than you miss when you are not admitting even the most obvious misses, like Rosen. The fact is, no one knows if Fields will be good or not. But the guy is probably the best QB prospect Jets have had in recent memory if they draft him, and one of the best overall prospects in a while. And that includes entire 2018 QB class, yes even with Rosen.
There isn’t a perfect prospect...Lawrence and Fields are both damn good though and I would be willing to bet on both being very good in the NFL, or atleast have the chance to be. Also I’m not sure how you watch Fields and say he doesn’t have a good arm. It’s not elite level but I would say it’s a plus attribute.
I don't think there is a comparison between the two. Fields struggles to push the ball outside the numbers Check out his throwing motion when he throws a deep ball, it takes everything he has to do it. That's why he is so wildly inconsistent. His ball placement will never be on point because throwing isn't natural to him and your can see it. Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
It's probably good worst attribute honestly. He could learn to get thru progressions faster but he will never get a rocket for an arm, it just doesn't happen in the NFL. Teams will simply take the short routes away and make him beat them deep basically same thing they do to sam. So if you guys are in for more of the same, go ahead and take fields. So.... Youtube videos have messed with your head. Got it. This was awful. First of all. I love all the "pro" scouts on youtube with 5-6 videos as their credentials. Baffles me that people eat that kind of stuff up. This guy thought Drew Lock was better than Kyler Murray. Good times. He keeps comparing Fields to Josh Allen for some reason even though Fields is a 69.4% completion percentage passer. He also thinks Jalen Hurts is shit, Justin Herbert is flawed and over-rated, and Daniel Jones is amazing. Yikes. He then goes on to criticize Fields accuracy with biased clips that show some miscues, then even tries to shit on some throws that were actually legit throws that you see all the time In the NFL. Blows my mind. ...but for further reference. He criticizes Fields In games against Cincinnati where he threw 20-25 (80%) for 224yds passing and 2 TDS. Rutgers where he threw 15-19 (78.0%) for 305yds and 4 TDS. Indiana where he threw 14-24 (58.9%) for 199yds and 3 Tds. Wisconsin where he threw for 12-22 (54.5) for 167yds and 2TDs. The Wisconsin game was by far his worse game last year, during the season. Although they played again In the Big 10 Championship Game where he threw for 19-31 (61.3%) for 299yds and 3TDs. It's just funny to me that this guy wants to highlight the very few misses, some of them weren't even bad In that video, but only cares to show off like 5 good throws that he has. Now, I'm no scout. I don't do scouting reports online, etc... However.. I don't think compiling, essentially, every bad throw on the season. Making a video on the majority of Fields bad throws on the year, but, making It out to be that was something that Fields consistently did, Is in fact good scouting. It's not. He wants to try to act like he is a bad down field passer, even though he is statistically the best downfield thrower In college. He talks about not having good arm velocity, then highlights downfield floaters where you want air under the ball to help your receiver down the field. He throws the ball down field In a similar fashion to Russel Wilson. He's pretty decent downfield too, no? If you are going to knock a guy for their velocity, you should probably target plays that show off areas In which you need velocity, short to intermediate Is where you would highlight that. How many of those throws were actually covered In this video? He Is extremely accurate with a career completion percentage of 69.4%. Yet, he's constantly referencing Josh Allen and his 56.2% completion percentage In college. I could go and go and go with how wrong that video was. I think I'm done at this point though. Stop watching random people on youtube talk about things they literally have no business talking about. Even the credentials to warrant them giving an actual opinion on It. Watch games for yourself. Just my suggestion. You do you though.
Now I know you’re just trolling. If that looks like a struggle and you think that ball was grossly under thrown, you can’t ever be taken seriously again.
Dude ive posted other videos in forums about this kid. He is not an NFL talent. Sorry end of story period. He can't make NFL level throws consistently. So why replace Darnold with him? They are essentially the same QB. Keep darnold, draft a didnt type of qb and go from there. Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
