People that think Fields is now the next Mahomes will also delude themselves into thinking maybe the Jags will pass on Lawrence for him.

    Neither one is true.

I totally disagree with the bold.. IMO you're totally wrong in your attitude about drafting QBs and their value. Fields is totally worth the #2 pick in the draft.

Just about every quarterback taken is too high, just because of the position.

Last week Lawrence was the second coming. Now it's Fields. None of us are going to decide if the Jets pick a QB or trade down. If Fields has a bad game next week against Alabama will everyone go back to to TL or Wilson. Let the dust settle. Clemson defense was poor and Fields was good but unlike us Joe Douglas has a plan that will not change based on what he sees in one game. Get ready for a long four months and endless speculation and stories and from people who claim they know what the Jets will do or should do.

Well looked like fields passed Lawrence last night as #1 QB. Did it convince jags? Not sure. But if he stars in national championship win. Maybe. Darnold was consensus # 1 QB for months leading into draft... ended up 3rd. Just saying. Lawrence was real dud last night, and that would be glimpse of him on bad team like jets!

You mean the Jags are going to pass on a white guy with long hair?

People who don’t like or want the Jets to draft Fields will also delude themselves into believing he is not capable of being a successful NFL QB and does not have a pretty high upside potential.

I was never a big believer in Fields and one game does not change that, but it does magnify the fact that due diligence must be taken and the Jets need to explore this enough to make sure.
Playing big in big spots can not be taught, you have it or you do not.

If the Jets draft Wilson with the number 2 pick, it will be a huge mistake.

    Correction.
Two weeks ago Lawrence was the second coming.

Last week Wilson was the next Steve Young.

    Now Fields is mini Mahomes.

What impulsive change of heart will TGG endure next? Tune in next week to find out.

    Here is my opinion FWIW:

If Fields can have another superior outing vs. Alabama and win a NC, it will change the game completely.

    1. Fields was under the most pressure and scrutiny and rose to the occasion to beat his biggest rival and a generational QB in TL
    2. He played through a pretty significant injury
    3. IF Fields manages to beat one of the most prolific coaches in sports on the national stage, it changes him as a prospect.....there shouldn't be a doubt about that
    4. Fields is going to test very well. The kid has an incredible physical profile and will be off the charts. Also he's very focused and intelligent--he will impress in the interview room
    5. Fields fits the profile of the modern NFL QB

I'm not saying I would draft him, but what I am saying is watch out for momentum here. If he beats Bama, he's going to be heading into this draft with a head full of steam.

I want to trade the #2 and build a team capable of bringing in a QB to lead us far into the playoffs.

No QB at 2 this season.

That’s fair and I’m not even basing everything off of one game for either guy

Wilson is definitely talented but I have serious concerns about his long term durability, and I don’t even think he’s a better overall prospect than fields without these concerns.

I would rather roll with Darnold than draft Wilson to be honest. Trey Lance is the only one I’d be cool with besides Fields / Lawrence but I’ll admit I need to look into his work more

Fields last night was special. Anyone acting like that wasn’t the case is lost.

Anything possible, but probably unlikely, but never know. Maybe Lawrence tells them he doesn’t want to play there. Maybe they like fields better on their team, scheme. Maybe they get extra pick from us, if they like fields, etc. but fields was better player last night by far. Nobody had mayfield #1, But he turned out to be. Just saying. No jets fans thought we had chance at Darnold but we got him, good or bad result.

Who knows. we may like fields more when all said and done, and we end up having to take Lawrence, that would be ironic.

That's gonna be JD and the new HC's call to make. We don't know what JD and the new HC is going to prioritize in the draft. Maybe continue the roster overhaul with a ton of high round picks or, shiny new QB and continue the restock or, Vet QB, lower rd Qb and restock and so on as the combinations are endless. We can only trust JD/HC to choose wisely no matter if that choice involves a new QB or doesn't.

    What game were you watching?

Lawrence ran read option + with a lot of screens, he went with his first read on almost every throw and repeatedly got away with throwing off his back foot while under duress... a bad habit that is hard to break as a pro (see Sam)...

Fields on the other hand was going through progressions on almost every single throw. He controlled defenders with his eyes before uncorking dime after dime. Just watching highlights and the td’s he threw you can see how fast the guy can read a defense, head is on a swivel and his ball placement is top notch.

Fields is a bigger/better Kyler Murray... and Murray doesn’t seem to be having issues in the NFL.

Does all this mean Lawrence isn't a generational talent anymore?

I must be getting old because a generation ain't what it used to be.

The same one you were watching except with a scrutinizing eye not as a fanboy. Fields is not a better stronger kyler murray and murray isnt that good. That has a load of talent and he still struggles.

Thats the problem with fanboys like you, you're not actually scrutinizing the player for what they can do better. That's how you scout college players
