I don't think it will be tough at all with the way Fields played. The Jets need a QB. Sam isn't it. That trumps anything.
Did you see that - everyone is partying on the sideline after that game-sealing INT, they cut to Fields and... ...he's totally stone faced, getting his helmet, surrounded by celebration, and getting back onto the field to take a knee. I have no clue if he's going to be a success in the league, but I'll keep saying it - he's a sociopathic competitor from a sports standpoint. He reminds me of the hitmen in tv shows and movies that just keep going without regards for anyone's feelings.
This is starting to feel like the Darnold draft. Everyone was sure Sam was the #1 pick and then things changed. Wont surprise me a bit if Fields ends up better than TL, but thats easy to say after this performance.
I agree Fields should be the guy but I still believe Sam would be fine. I’ll just take the ceiling of Fields plus the rookie contract and it’s a no brainer Nothing against Sam, but it just makes sense to move on
I will sleep easy tonight after this game. Again, a big test will be against Bama, but as a Jets fan, this feels good right now. After this weekend when Gase is fired, I will be very hopeful for the future of this franchise
JD and whomever the new HC is will make the call on this. The #2 pick is worth a whole helluva lot more now than it was this morning..
It's gonna be interesting seeing these rumors start circulating with Meyer and Fields. You have to think Douglas is looking at a potential Meyer/Fields combo this offseason.
