Sometimes when things seem their darkest you just have to stay Covid positive Positive: Becton Quinnen Manish Mehta’s banishment John Franky Roberts Foley Fats Neville H Negatives: Sam Darnold Adam Gase Gregg Williams
I don't see any positives from this season other than the way Douglas handled the draft last year. Other than that this was the season from hell and just when we thought it couldn't get worse the Jets won a couple of games and things got worse.
Solid thread idea. Positives....Becton, Quinnen, the fact that the team never quit and still played with heart which is a great sign for the future. Also a positive that by continuing to fight and play hard, they were spared the ignominy of going 0-16 which is a disgrace that NO player wants to be a part of. On that same note, another HUGE positive is that we will draft our QB of the future, Zach Wilson from BYU, who I (and others) maintain is the SUPERIOR QB prospect to the overhyped TL. Negatives...Gore plowing ahead for 2 yard gains time and time and time again, Gase's god-awful coaching in every respect, the fact that Greg Williams basically threw a game for his own selfish petty reasons...the fact that Darnold didn't progress at all and continues to struggle with basic game management.....and the uniforms...I still miss the 80's uniforms....
Naming negatives of a Jets season without leading with the spineless ineptitude of the ownership group is a detachment from reality.
Positives- Crowder Mims Ty Johnson Bechton Elfein Flacco Hewitt Bless Austin Bryce Hall Q Myers Fatukasi Maye Huff Perriman (with Flacco) Adams Mann Ballantine KR Berrios PR Mallet Guidry Negatives- Darnold Frank Bore Perriman (with Darnold)
The only positive of this season is that it ends on Sunday. This season was peak New York Jets. Season begins with some expectation for the team, only for them to completely crater right out of the gate to the point that the fanbase begins rooting for 0-16, because there is, of course, a generational talent at QB coming out in the draft. Then they play so badly for so long that even the most jaded among us allow ourselves to believe that they're going to complete the job and "run the table" and get the QB. And, in peak Jets fashion, when it looks all but clinched, they go out and beat two playoff teams and ruin the whole thing. To say that this season has been utterly pointless is a gross understatement. I've never felt like I've wasted my time as much as I do watching this dumpster fire each and every week.
Great Post! Get to 0-12/1-13 and all of a sudden you see this great effort and ridiculous trick plays come out of nowhere. It was almost as if pissing off the fan base was this teams motivation.
Positives the season will be over tomorrow and Gase will be gone by Noon Monday....Negatives the season started in September
Don't get me wrong, I think Jamal Adams is an insufferable douchetool, but naming the subtraction of your best player doesn't strike me as a positive. Edit: just realized you were probably referring to Josh Adams? Also there's no way you can have a list of negatives that doesn't include the loss of Robbie Anderson, which Douglas himself named his biggest regret.
Team is not as bad as some may think. Problem is we still somehow lack the 3 most important pieces to a good team 1. QB 2. Coach 3. Edge Rusher
that was the price the gods of fate assessed for getting rid of manish mehta. there is no such thing as free lunch.........
Excellent post, Matt! I'd add Herndon to the negatives, and Tarrell Basham to the positives. Basham has helped create pressure and is good depth imo
We don't agree on everything, NCJetsFan, but I do appreciate and respect how you always compliment interesting thread topics, even if they are started by someone else. Well done.
Thanks. Hey, no one said that we had to agree on everything. Think how boring that would be. I appreciate your positivity and respect your opinions.
