Jaguars - Trevor Lawrence, QB 2. 49ers - Zach Wilson, QB TRADE: San Francisco trades 2021 1st & 2nd round picks, 2022 1st, 2nd & 3rd round picks & 2023 3rd round pick to New York (Jets) for No. 2 overall 3. Panthers - Caleb Farley, CB 10. Broncos - Gregory Rousseau, Edge 11. Cowboys - Jaycee Horn, CB 12. Chargers - Samuel Cosmi, OT 13. Vikings - Rashawn Slater, OT 14. Jets - Devonta Smith, WR I'm not a fan of Smith, but applaud taking offense and WR. With Jaylen Waddle and Kyle Pitts still on the board, no freaking way should Smith be the pick. 15. Patriots - Trey Lance, QB 16. Raiders - Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB 17. Cardinals - Travis Etienne, RB 18. Colts - Jaylen Waddle, WR 19. Washington - Christian Darrisaw, OT 20. Bucs - Liam Eichenberg, OT 26. Titans - Rashod Bateman, WR 27. Jets - Kyle Pitts, TE (no way Pitts falls this far and players like Terrace Marshall, Eichenberg, Phillips, Vera-Tucker and Bateman are taken ahead of him.) 28. Bills - Shaun Wade, CB 29. Saints - Eric Stokes, CB 30. Steelers - Alex Leatherwood, OT 31. Packers - Nick Bolton, LB 32. Chiefs - Kadarius Toney, WR
I discussed this in-depth in the other thread. I think for that trade to happen SanFran has to pay much more. Or their draft position has to improve next Sunday by about 5-6 slots.
If Wilson or Fields turn into great QB's we will never here the end of it, I take Wilson, if not I take Fields, the most important player on your team is the QB , keep Flacco till one is ready or get Stafford
They have to use their expertise to see if their skill set translates to the NFL. They also need to go back over the evaluation of Darnold coming out of college and see why his skills didn't translate (I believe JoeD liked Sam coming out of USC). If JoeD and his staff (and the incoming new HC) don't like the 2021 draft guys, fine. But if they like them -- not LOVE them but LIKE them -- then they have to strongly consider taking 1 of them at #2. The Jets don't figure to have the #2 draft pick again anytime soon even in a year where JoeD and New HC LOVE the QB or QBs. We blew our chance for perfection with Trevor Lawrence by winning 2 games. We have to ask ourselves: can we win with one of these QB's for the next 10 years....is this QB a Top 10 (if not a Top 5 or Top 3 like TL) QB year-in and year-out ?
I saw this mock the other day. I like the outside the box creativity with the trade down (but agree that 49ers might have to add). Also don't think Lance lasts outside the top 10
Horrible deal for Jets, this must’ve come from a 49ers fan, must be old as well as the draft order is not even correct.
If we make this trade with SF I would move back up into the top 10 where we can get one of the following players: 3. Bengals - Penei Sewell, OT 4. Falcons - Justin Fields, QB 5. Eagles - Micah Parsons, LB 6. Dolphins - Ja'Marr Chase, WR 7. Lions - Kwity Paye, Edge 8. Giants - Patrick Surtain II, CB 9. Panthers - Caleb Farley, CB 10. Broncos - Gregory Rousseau, Edge Any of them would be a good value and help our team.
Even if SanFran jumps from 15th to 10th, it only adds 300 points, from 1,480 to 1,780. And I don't think they can even jump that high based on who's ahead of them and SoS rankings. SanFran would need to add picks. They are getting the 2nd best pick in the 2021 draft whereas their 2021 (the only one we know for sure about) is at the mercy of a dozen other teams. I want close to what LA got in 2012 for RGIII @ #2: 2,000 points in 2021 draft value and another 2,000 points in future value. If we don't get it, then these other teams can keep recycling QB's and keep losing. With GM and coaching jobs at stake -- even SanFran's -- JoeD can and will get his price. Just be patient.
I would be on board with that trade, that’s a lot of draft Capital to rebuild this team and if there’s a QB next year JD really likes now he would have the chips to make a move .. I like Wilson But concerned about previous injury to his throwing arm.. we’ll see how it plays out with the draft combine and pro day..IF JD feels that strongly about Wilson take him..if not?? 3 first rds picks , 2 second and third rd picks in 2022! We could fix a lot of holes on the team
OK agree if you can get more from SF do it..If not I agree with the article stick with Sam for one more year and see if a real coach can get anything out of him if he’s that bad we will be in a position to get a quarterback in 22 and Build around him with that kind of capital
I would work the phone with the Dolphins. There will be lots of great players available at # 6. Picks # 6, 20 & 83 would need to come back according to the trade value chart. How does three first round picks sound to you?
The Dolphins right now (via Houston) are at #3. That sounds about right esp. for a team whose 1st Rounder is below #6. I see a bidding war developing for the #2 pick we own -- KA-CHING !!! Look at all the teams that can not sell their current QB's to their fan base or coaching staff the next year or two: Minny.....SanFran.....Carolina....Atlanta....Detroit....Denver.....Indy...etc. These teams do NOT want to take on other team's castoffs (if they did, they'd want Sam at a nice price). If these guys want Wilson or Fields, they're going to want him THIS YEAR and pay up to get it. There won't be another Wilson or Fields in 2022 or 2023 and the team with the #1 or #2 pick might not be willing to trade then. Of course, we might not be willing to trade this year so who knows..........
the Jets drop 12-13 spots - get 6 picks - are able to land a #1 WR, best TE prospect to come out in years and end up having 3 first rounders next year. Would be exactly what is needed to inject a lot of talent + fill holes. Where do I sign?? SF’s 2021 1st - #15 (right now) 2021 2nd - pick #46 2022 1st 2022 2nd 2022 3rd 2023 3rd 2021 - Jets current picks: Round 1, 26th overall (from Seattle) Round 2, 33rd overall Round 3, 65th overall Round 3, 90th overall (from Seattle)
If I consider a trade out of the top ten I would make sure I had a deal in place to move back up a bit. We should aim to come out of the draft with one of the top ten or at least top twelve players in this draft. Moving up with at least one other pick would also be a good idea if we do trade down.
Guys, that #2 overall pick is GOLD......GOLD, Jerry, GOLD ! (as Kenny Bania would say )....it's not just quantity of picks we get we need some quality.
I agree that if JD loves one of these QBs he probably has to use the #2 pick on them, especially if he likes Wilson or Fields, the others might last until the second 1st rounder or the first 2nd rounder. From looking at his first draft though, he's not a "reacher"...he waited until the last possible moment to take Mims and we REALLY needed at least one top WR in that draft. I think he uses the #2 on Sewell, or he grabs a king's ransom for it and trades back and if there's a QB he likes sitting there he'll bite, otherwise he'll roll with Darnold, Morgan, and maybe another cheap vet.
I don’t disagree, but the mock has us landing 2 of the top 5 offensive skill players in this draft and getting another 1st rounder for next year.
He is great at Alabama, and I love him as a collegiate player, but don't think he will be able to stay healthy in the NFL. I think his legs are even skinnier than Robby Anderson's. They look like bird legs.
