Again, JD came up in orgs that didn't put a premium on QB play, so he might be thinking "Hey, I can get by with Darnold for now while I continue building up the OL and weapons, and then look for an upgrade over him next year or the year after". Again, not saying that's what I want, but I wouldn't be surprised if Douglas does that. The point is that you have to ask if any QB you draft - or could sign or trade for - would be better than Darnold?
I do give Darnold a pass for large tracts of last season and earlier this year as well. He was operating under absolutely appalling conditions. Peyton Manning in his prime would have looked like shit if exposed to some of that OL play last season. IF the snap even went in Darnold's direction the pass rush was literally 1/4 inch behind it and already up to full speed. Trevor Lawrence, Darnold, Vince Lombardi, Christ himself.... nobody is going to succeed like that. Now is the time to keep this rolling. Get Sam some help. I'd love either Sewell or if the Jets are fortunate enough to be able to trade down for more picks and Chase that'd be great as well.
Doesn’t count, a qb should be able overcome all obstacles... jk, this illustrates exactly the reality of today’s football - scheme and players matter... not just Qb.
Whoever was asking about Mims he was in on that last play laying on the ground as Perine ran past lol
I could live with either one of those outcomes. The question is if Darnold really turned a corner; we’ll know how he plays against his ghost team.
