CC. Not a college football guy. In my life, I don't remember watching any college football game from start to finish. That said, I got a chance to watch this kid a few times. I liked what I saw from him. He seemed in control against good defenses. That's all. But know that my word doesn't carry any weight as I am the least draft guy. Calling our draft expert mod @WW85 to shed some light on the matter.
I look forward to hearing from WW85 then. I've only seen Trask in the Alabama vs. FS game and I have to say I was impressed. I could see where he could be very good - strong arm, good touch, accurate, but he's not really very mobile. I'd call him a "poor man's Tom Brady". In the right system and team he could be a good QB. If the Jets get into a trade down situation he'd be a guy I wouldn't be unhappy for them to take. But Wilson is the real deal IMO. He's got at least as good an arm, if not better than, Trask, and the accuracy and touch, plus he's very mobile - he brings more options to the table. And the other thing to consider is: is Darnold really done here? Does Douglas think so? He may not even be considering QBs, even Lawrence. No one on this board - unless their name is Joe Douglas - knows what he's thinking. It will be interesting to see if Sam can replicate his performance against the Rams these last two games. If he does, then that will certainly add to our confusion.
The only thing I disagree with here is the bolded sentence. With Sam's struggles and his contract/cap situation, there is no way that Douglas isn't at least considering the QBs, especially since we're rebuilding. This would be the time to start over at QB and reset the QB contract under the cap. If he isn't at least considering the QBs, then he isn't doing his job well, and really not doing it at all. When the Jets had the #1 pick, you'd better bet he was thinking about taking Lawrence,. If nothing else, he knew/knows the ridicule he would/will face if he has the opportunity to take Lawrence and doesn't. That would be a career-defining decision that would make or break his career.
Agreed, and let's hope/pray he has to make that decision with a bit lof luck the next 2 Sundays. But baring that.....we're picking 2nd. He does NOT want to be Dave Caldwell and overdraft a guy he HOPES will grow into the position like Blake Bortles. He has to really LOVE the QB. It has to be a guy, if Lawrence wasn't in this draft, that you fall head-over-heels in love with praying you get a shot to draft him. I guess the book is closed on Wilson. Let's see what Fields does in his next 1 or 2 games. He could make it interesting for the Jets or...if we aren't drafting #1 and Joe D. doesn't like Fields....if he has 1 or 2 great games in January, could make that #2 draft slot a HOT commodity with multiple picks coming. What if Jerry Jones wants to take Fields ? Or another team ? KA-CHING !!!!!!!
Florida is going to be without all their playmakers tonight.... Pitts, Toney and Grimes... If Trask plays well it will be a giant boost to his draft status. Tune in at 8 tonight...
Just a good college QB when supplied w weapons.Nothing more & nothing less. All aboard the Trey Lance train for all who dare!
Was good to see Trask without all those weapons. After TL, this class is looking weak. Would have liked to see BYU play a real team so we could better gauge Wilson.
If we had the #1 pick, we were taking Lawrence, no doubt about it. After that, you are right: only JoeD and the incoming new HC will make that choice.
Playing a "real team" doesnt give you any adequate gauge of his ability. Hes one player in a team with inferior talent Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
Said the same thing about Fields, Chris Olave made him a good looking QB Trask obviously did not elevate others and had weapons all year. Trevor missed top 3 WR this year. Too bad we missed out on him. Really a shame.
I've had one foot in the train for about two weeks now and I can't decide if I want to get on or not.
