The unnamed NFC Director is more likely trying to get the Jets and whoever else is in front of his team to pass on Wilson so he can get him.
Anyone that slanders someone through an anonymous source is a coward. If you're going to slander someone, put your name to it.
Do you think a Director of College Scouting will keep his job for long if he feeds little scouting reports to the media with his name attached to it? Come on.
Then don't say it. If you want to publicly slander someone to the extent where it can impact their career, put your damn name on it or don't say it.
From an ethical perspective I totally agree with you. On the other side I can say those bits of information help juicen up the offseason for us jets fans massively. It can honestly just be misinformation to manipulate draft stocks but for me it's interesting either way. In soccer in europe we don't have that much and it makes player transfer speculations just way less interesting to be honest. Finally I would argue that having a little bit of a slide in the draft can help a QB more than it hurts sometimes.
