    Tell that to Joe Burrow.

Having the worst o line in the NFL is not acceptable but having the worst starting QB is even less acceptable. That's what we have right now.

If we could trade our o line/QB situation with the Bengals I'd do it in a heartbeat. They have their QB for the next decade in all likelihood.

This is probably not the way to think, but is Sewell going to be ok playing Right Tackle for a decade? Knowing LTs make significantly more money? Not saying that should impact how we draft but something to think about.

With that said, I would rather trade down for a haul and rebuild this team's talent at this point with TL all but gone. Pick a QB later in the draft.

If we're trading back, it wouldn't make much sense to do so and tackle an offensive tackle since there is a steeper drop off at OT from Sewell to anyone else. We'd be doing so to go defensive (best value in the 4-10 range) or take a receiver (Waddle/Smith/Chase).

That's another issue. Not to mention the footwork is completely different and while guys can do it, fans tend to think it's just the easiest transition in the world.

Is he as good of a right tackle as he is a left tackle? What's the talent drop off?

I don't think we take Sewell anyways though.

I'm okay with Sewell, but our OL issues stem from the interior, not the edges.

I'm not against taking Sewell, but my preference is to trade down and get Chase, Smith, or Lance.

Sewell is the pick if they stay at 2. I could see a trade down happening, but I don't know how they would be targeting. If one of these other QB's falls I could see Jets making a move for them in late first. I see our big needs as OL, Edge, WR, TE and RB. With 5 picks in first 3 rounds, we have a chance to build up the team. If Darnold still fails next year, we can move on with no regrets and we'll have two firsts to try to find his cheap replacement in 2022 draft.

Robert Gallery wasn't that highly-rated, IMO. Played at Iowa, again against mediocre competition IMO.

Have you seen that stat about Darnold being the worst QB in the NFL from a clean pocket? I really don't think sinking more resources into the OL is the move.

Understanding the Jets were dead last on offense, I'd be sign up for either of these with first 3 picks.

    Sewell
    Marshall Jr.
    Etienne

    Or

    Chase
    Wyatt
    Etienne/Harris

Give Darnold another go with weapons and an oline. If he fails, we are at least set up to make the next QB a success.

Drafting a player at 2 that you know day 1 will be playing out of position and will not be signable at the end of his first contract is not smart. Assuming Sewell and Becton both stay healthy, one of them is not going to just be agreeable to play RT for a decade and make less money with less fanfare. It would not be smart. If you don't pick a QB at 2, you HAVE TO trade down. I don't see any other option.

exactly. It’s either these two cases or take Wilson at 2 imo

What would George Fant be worth in a trade? He has been a good starter.
If we could get a 2nd round pick for him and then draft Sewell?

When you watch more of Sewell which I’ve been doing, you realize, there is a reason the Jets did not tank for Lawrence.

He’s not just good, he is a once in a generation type prospect.

Best player in the draft + Jets will not pass on him.

    BETTER THAN LAWRENCE ?????? o_O

How's the competition he's going up against....you think this guy is going to make Becton look ordinary, he's that good ?

If they do take Sewell, which I think there is a very good chance of, you have to draft a RB early as well IMO. That would take an enormous amount of pressure off Darnold.

From a clean pocket, Sam Darnold had an adjusted completion percentage (filtering out drops, throwaways, etc.) of 81.7% in 2019, 6th-best out of 32 qualifiers.

That's unreal...how the hell could we have gotten him so wrong ?

It looks like MM blew every #1 pick except Q and Adams.
