Gase told that story in his post game press conference. I'm sure he (Gase) doesn't mind that getting as much playtime as possible because it puts him in a positive light.
F gase first he drives away Adams then goes winless destroying the fooseason and then wins 1 fing game. They should have fired him for the get go
And your point is? That's like saying you want Gase back because Peyton Manning endorsed him. Watch the product on the field, all the other crap means CRAP.
Watch Josh Allen in Buffalo. Against Denver he hit his first read almost 90 percent of the time. One of the few times he tried a progression he ended up throwing it to a Bronco who dropped it. Jets need a head coach that understands modern NFL offense. Eric Bienemy- Knows the Andy Reid spread offense inside and out. Brian Daboll-Took a QB with physical talent but can't read a defense in Josh Allen and created a fool proof way to minimize QB decision making. Arthur Smith-Tennessee took Ryan Tannehill after he was considered junk by Gase and started giving him quick, easy throws. Boom. Imagine this concept with Darnold.
Yes, that's why the bigger loss from yesterday wasn't likely missing out on getting Lawrence, but the increased likelihood that Gase will be retained.
You mean they tailored their schemes to what their QB is good at and minimized what they can't do as well. What a novelty.
Just one HC being kind to another. Kinda like the handshake after the game. It's just protocol. If McVay likes Gase so much, he can hire him on his staff if and when Chris Johnson pulls the trigger.
There is no way Gase should be retained. One win and he admitted he failed Darnold. He is gone. His offense is an NFL dinosaur. Let's have the QB go through progressions for WRs not schemed open..
I hope Douglas got the go from the ownership to do so. I don’t trust the J&J approach to hiring HCs.
Well, it appears as many as 6-8 HC might be fired end of season, so the carousel will be full of opportunities
I wouldn't put any stock in anything McVay says. He's done a terrible job in Los Angeles and should be on the hot seat himself. That team is loaded and he's done next to nothing with it other than to watch his supposedly "explosive" offense wither away during one of the most offensively putrid Super Bowls ever played and now can hang his hat on having been the team that lost to one of the worst teams in league history because his offense couldn't get out of their own way. This is a guy who called the offensive equivalent of Gregg Williams' hail mary cover-0 blitz with two deep passes on 3rd and 4th and 4 while down three in field goal range. So tired of hearing about how the "boy wonder" is transforming this league.
What?! He's 42-20 as a coach and turned around a franchise that was in the gutter for almost 15 years with a QB that looked absolutely awful in his rookie year. McVay is nowhere near the hot seat. They're a playoff team this year as well as I'm sure they'll beat the Cardinals in week 17 if they lose this week. They own the Cardinals as he's 7-0 against them.
Should read "11 Days Until Competent Ownership Would Fire Gase". We don't have competent ownership and I'd be lying if I said I don't have a bad feeling about Black Monday and the Jets' situation.
you are an optimist. you meant IF chris johnson pulls the trigger.....jets fan since 1965 is telling you : never, ever, assume anything!
Nobody is "going to war" for the fake "coach" Gase. Players are going to work and doing their jobs because it is good for them individually, it is good for their teammates and they have twenty years of it being drilled into their heads that you sacrifice for the team. Just because they haven't totally thrown in the towel does not show any admiration, appreciation or respect for the unqualified fraud Adam Gase. Hell, he probably doesn't even know who half the guys on the defense are. Remember we're talking about a purported head coach who refused to even put in the effort to communicate with players in the training room last year. Your show of admiration for the guy astounds.
We are so bad I think we need 2 coaches to change the organization, JD might be a good GM, but he is not a strong personality, he has let Gase walk all over him so far. We need to bring in a Tom Coughlin, Jim Caldwell type has done that and knows how an organization needs to be run, with a reputation that ownership must respect. If JD can than bring in talent. We start to build something, with a football guy in charge of all of it. Then we get the sexy coach to bring us over the top.
