No way you take another LT at #2. You would trade out of that pick before you did that...

You would still get a good haul because people are certainly not as low on Fields right now as a lot of people on this forum are. People are naturally upset we aren't getting, TL. That alone makes Fields look worse, then people want to try to pretend like Fields hasn't been a high caliber QB In college because of a couple of games. Good times.

We will see how It all shakes out, but, I think Fields will be a lock at #2 by the time draft time gets here.

I think you HAVE to take Fields at #2, unless, you trade out. There really shouldn't be any other scenario.

We're screwed if we miss on Fields or Wilson, yes, but we're also screwed if we don't improve on Sam at QB. Even the teams with elite running games and defenses struggle to get to the Super Bowl unless they have a very good QB.

Having two dominant tackles is nice in a vacuum but when you consider the salary cap it's overkill. It would be much better to swap one of them for a blue chip weapon at WR or RB.

Taking Sewell is the wrong idea IMO, if we're staying at 2, I'd rather go QB (I think Wilson would be my choice but I'm not sure yet). At least going QB gives you a chance of hitting it big, whereas Sewell could be a Hall of Famer, and it won't matter if we don't have the QB. Plus we already have Becton, and there are diminishing returns to going big at any position group. But if we can trade down a bit and get a big haul, I'd be down for that.

Yeah this is where I'm at as well. We're going to be forced into reaching for Fields or Wilson now that we screwed ourselves out of Lawrence. It's not ideal but it's probably our best move at this point. Yet another draft where we're forced into doing something suboptimal because of meaningless wins late in the season.

Hell no! That's why taking Sewell would be dumb. We don't need the two best OTs in the game. That's a luxury.

Sewell is NOT better than Becton. Commentators have already spoken of Becton's HOF potential. You don't mess with a player who is great at his position.

Exactly! If the Jets want to take a RT, they can take one of Jalen Mayfield, Daniel Faalele, Alex Leatherwood, Jackson Carmon, Teven Jenkins, and Spencer Brown. Drafting Sewell would be a waste of draft capital, would create cap problems, and would be stupid.

There's still a chance for Jags winning against the Bears. Chicago are still fighting for the playoffs spot and cannot afford to lose any games, and I don't rate Trubisky at all and same goes for Nagy as HC so I can easily see them laying an egg against the Jags. The pressure of not losing could get to them. And I bet that Minshew doesn't want the Jags to draft a QB to replace him, he will give all he has.
Nobody gave us a chance to win against Rams and look what happened. I'm not ready to lose hope for Lawrence, it's still possible.

Yuck! That would be so typical of the Jets wanting to do something stupid and so behind the times. The NFL is a passing league.

You grab Sewell with the first pick, good chance Wyatt Davis is gone by the time Seattle's first (24-27) comes around.

Grab a playmaker with the Seattle first pick and then maybe a Jackson Carmen (OT, Clemson) in the 2nd and move him inside next to Becton - guy's a nasty 330+ lb. brute.

Not necessarily I’m thinking similar to what the Titans are doing since we can’t get an Lawrence... in my opinion fields and Wilson would be a reach with the second pick in the draft..

Where are we getting Derrick Henry? Where are we getting an above average QB like Tannehill? Where are we getting an above average defense? Can't imitate the Titans when you don't have any of the pieces the Titans have.

And our larger point is that even the Titans, with everything going for them, didn't make it to the Super Bowl. Almost every team that competes for a title has an elite QB. That's out the window for us as of yesterday.

Both Wilson and Fields may be reaches, or they may wind up being good QBs. I'll trust whatever JD does except for that. Sorry, but for sure the one thing I don't want to see is a giant step backwards in time trying to emulate the Titans. I hate that kind of football. I'd rather the Jets fold the franchise than do that. I became a Jets fan because of Namath and the passing. I hated the old NFL 3 yards and a cloud of dust. The NFL is a passing league now.

IMO if JD doesn't like any of the other QBs, then he should address the OL, WR, TE and RB positions with his top 4 picks, and try to build an offense around whomever will be starting next year, then look to draft a QB in 2022 or 2023.

Where in my post did I say he was better than Becton? I do believe he can be as dominant as him. I have no problem having 2 dominant all pro, future HOF tackles. I think trading down is a great idea, but if we sit at 2, I prefer taking him over Fields/Wilson.

I get that your disappointed but I just don't think any of this sentiment is true.

And I would submit as evidence the story of the last truly "generational" QB Andrew Luck. Incredibly skilled player. And the Colts let him get slaughtered behind a complete shit offensive line and he's out of the league by age 30 or whatever through no real fault of his own.

And THAT is after he truly panned out as a player of the QB position. There is no granite chiseled tablet that guarantees Trevor Lawrence is going to be the greatest NFL QB since Peyton Manning. He's not an "I win" button that you just press and its all over but dusting the trophy shelf. Some of this Lawrence stuff imho is really getting carried away. He's a great prospect but my goodness.

I think we can all agree last night was disappointing. Overall, just a lot to swallow still. Part of me felt happy to see Sam Darnold happy and smiling post-game. He's a really good kid and has been a class act here. I can't blame them for winning...Let's be real nobody tanks. These are professionals and none are guaranteed to even be here next year. To make it easier on us, we aren't as bad of a team as it may seem. We almost beat Oakland, New England, etc. This win was inevitable it felt like. Obviously we aren't a good team but we clearly aren't the 0-16 Browns of 2017 and there are some pieces to build around (see below).

As I am trying this, I am watching First Take and they had some interesting points:
-Rex Ryan said "this win will be felt for 15 years."
-Rex Ryan: "Don't just bring in a QB guy, need a coach for entire team"
-Orvlovsky said "they should stick with Sam Darnold over Fields"

    Re-Sign
-Marcus Maye 3 Years (33 mm)
    -CB Brian Poole - 2 years/$15 million
    -OG Pat Elflein
    -Breshad Periman
    -CB Arthur Maulet
    -LB Harvey Langi
    -LB Neville Hewitt
    -LB Tarrell Basham
    -CB Lamar Jackson
    -Conor McDermot

    Cut:
    -Henry Anderson
    -Alex Lewis
    -GVR

Free Agents ($45mm of Spending Money/yr):
    -
Joe Thuney (G/NE): Thuney for four-years, $57 million ($14.25M APY): $35M total guaranteed, $20M fully guaranteed at signing.
-Matt Judon: Judon for four years, $64 million ($16M APY): $33 million total guaranteed, $21 million fully guaranteed at signing

    Extend:
    -
Sam Darnold. Hear me out. The Golden State Warriors had Steph Curry injured most of his rookie contract. They were able to get him on the cheap in order to sign Iggy and co. around 2015. If we can extend Darnold for 3 years or so at $14mm/year (3 years/$42mm). I would really consider doing that. I know I know we don't know about Sam but potential is still there and giving up on him for Justin Fields (see quote above from Orlovsky) may not be wise. He's only 23.

    Draft:
    Rd 1 Pick 2:
Traded to Dallas for Round 1 pick 8, 2020 Round 2, 2021 Round 1 in order for them to move up to secure Justin Fields. At 8, I would think Jamar Chase is gone and would be my first target. If not, I would focus on either Devonta Smith or Kyle Pitts. With that being said, We draft Devonta Smith, WR Alabama. Looks like a mini Jarvis Landry/Odell etc. Protoypical slender but smooth SEC WR

Round 1 Pick 27: Travis Etienne, RB Clemson.

Round 2 Pick 2: Pat Fiermuth.TE Penn State

Round 2 Pick 8: Patrick Jones, edge Pitt.

    3-2: Josh Jobe CB Alabama
    3-27: Trey Hill OG/C, UGA
    4-2: Amari Rogers, WR Clemson

    Depth:
    QB: Darnold, Falco, James Morgan
RB: Travis Etienne, Ty Johnson, Josh Adams
WR X: Devonta Smith, Bershard Periman
WR Z: Denzel Mims, Vincent Smyth
    WR Y: Crowder, Amari Rogers
    TE: Feirmuth, Herdon

    LT: Becton, McDermot
    LG: Thuney, Eilfien
    C: Trey Hill/McGovern
    RG: Eilfen/Cam Clark
    RT: Fant, Edoga

    R Edge: Matt Judon, Basham
    DT: Quinnen, Shepherd
    DT: Fatuski, Zuniga
L Edge: Patrick Jones, Bryce Huff

    MLB: Neville Hewitt, Cashman
    MLB: CJ Mosley

CB: Bryce Hall, Bless Austin, Lamar Jackson, Maulet
    FS: Marcus Maye
    SS: Ashtyn Davis
