Clemson and OSU play in 10 days....what if BOTH Trevor and Fields light it up ?

Do we draft Fields ? Do we then have a valuable asset at #2 (I assume we don't win out and also don't go back to #1)....which we can use to get a pair of extra #1's ?

    We totally agree on Sewell.

I haven't made any final determination on Fields/Wilson yet.

We agree on Etienne. You cannot wait until the 7th round to get a RB. That would be dumb imo and would screw the offense. Johnson and Adams haven't proven anything yet. They could be part of a rotation, but I don't see a solid starter among those 3. IMO the Jets have to get a RB by the 3rd round to take pressure off of whomever is our starting QB in 2021.

Wilson is the real deal NCJetsFan. Watch some of his game film from this season. I would take him in a heartbeat!

Having to pay both Becton and Sewell will take up too much cap space, and it would be a crime to play Sewell at RT. Douglas can build a great OL without adding Sewell. Thuney would not be the final piece imo. McGovern has improved as the season has gone along, but he may not be the long-term answer, and there's another OG spot. Van Roten isn't the long-term answer. I hope that Clark may be, but he's not proven yet.

i'm not broadway sam but wilson does not look like an NFL QB. Plus look at my track record. it's pretty solid. I wanted us to trade back and take lamaar jackson + picks. I said josh allen would be good when everyone shit on him and I wanted him over baker and rosen. I watched wilson play. awful mechanics and average arm. it's not gonna fly in the NFL

Fields is not going to light up anything against that Clemson defense, Ohio State will have to rely on the RPO, it’s the only way he will have success.

If they expect him to simply drop back and pass Ohio State to a victory it’s not going to happen, I’m sure they will be ready to put tape on his throwing hand and make excuses for him when Clemson embarrasses him like they did ND.

I agree that there is no premier pass rusher.

I disagree in the number of blue chip players. Micah Parsons, Quity Payne and Jaylen Waddle are all blue chip players as well.

I will be shocked if Fields falls to the bottom of the 1st round.

I disagree with taking Sewell or that the Jets "should" or "have to" take him. There are other good RT prospects in this draft. Taking Sewell might be cheaper for a year or two, but in 4-5 years we could be looking at having to then release one of Sewell or Becton or not be able to re-sign another player or two at skill positions. No thanks!

I would love to add Najee Harris. He would be a great add, but I'd be shocked if Douglas takes him. I think it more likely that he takes one of Kenneth Gainwell of Memphis or Javonte Williams of UNC, or maybe even Trey Sermon of OSU.

and Darnasty, with all due respect, you misunderstood my post. I was NOT saying that I was the "first one on the board" to say that Wilson was a viable alternative to TL if the jets did "the unimaginable and won a game." I was saying that you heard it from me first that I think Wilson could turn out to be better than TL, who I am not sold on as a "can't miss future HOF'er" like everyone else around here. For my money, I would take Wilson OVER TL. That is what you heard from me first on here.

I definitely plan to watch game film on him. I saw the entire game vs. Coastal Carolina and he was NOT good in that game.

He has potential but he doesn't melt your brain watching him by any means. Wilson has a lot of flaws, most college QB's do, but, he doesn't do anything better than, Fields.

People want to try and discredit all the good that Fields has put on tape due to a couple games, yet, people pretend like other QB's haven't had bad games as well. Did you watch Wilson Vs CC this year? He looked like shit. I'm not going to use that as my reasoning on why I think he is the 4th best QB In this draft. It's just part of the equation for me.

His footwork Isn't good. He needs a lot more work with his hips heading into the NFL. I really don't like him as a deep thrower, especially with the competition he plays at. He's not good with anticipating. He struggles (like most college QB's) to see the field after the first read. I don't think he has a very strong arm overall. His arm strength Is slightly better than, Pennington. With a much lower football IQ.

Now, I don't hate him as a prospect either. He does some good things, things I think could allow for a slightly above average QB In the NFL. I certainly wouldn't take him at #2 though.

Sucks we are even having this conversation. This should be a no brainer for us, we should be well on our way to landing, TL. Tis' Is life.

    1. Penei Sewell. Not necessary with Fant and all the other holes
    2. Justin Fields. Not good.
    3. Zac Wilson. Do you a 23 year old Darnold or a 21 year old Wilson?
    4. Patrick Surtain II, I think he's overrated
    5. Rondale Moore, not a needed pick with Crowder. If we cut crowder, then I get it.

    To draft (in order)
    1. Jamar Chase
    2. Devonta Smith
    3. Kyle Pitts
    4. Travis Etienne
    5. Best interior OL
    6. Rashod Bateman

I need to watch more on fields/wilson but as of now i'm not impressed.

for a RB i like the ones next year much better then this year. I'd take a flyer on a late round one this year

GazedAndConfused, since you cited your solid track record in predicting QB success (Jackson, Allen, et. al.) I have to ask...what are your thoughts on Trey Lance, Mac Jones and Kyle Trask??? Do you think we should draft any of them in the first 2 rounds if we can get one???

Interestingly enough, Parcells was in this exact spot when he took over. We did have #1 pick, but Manning opted out, and we lost out on him, so we were effectively left with the same choices we have now after missing out on a generational QB prospect. He decided to trade down. JD/new coach might do that as well, but I think a lot will depend on evaluation of the QBs left on the board via private workouts, interviews, etc, and also evaluating where Morgan is now. Depending on how much the coaches are impressed by Fields/Wilson/Lance, they might pick one straight up or trade down and still get one. It's hard to have answers now without all this, since there isn't a QB aside from Lawrence that is a slam dunk, and we need talent in many different areas. Brutal, brutal "win" last night.

I needs to dive deeper into those guys. i've been studying trask quite a bit recently. I don't see him as a pro bowler but I think he can be a solid guy for us as a mid round QB. Jones and lance I haven't looked into as much yet as I was mostly looking at wilson and fields and not impressed with either one. The other option we still have is james morgan. we don't know what he amounts to. if JD feels good about darnold and morgan he could opt not to take a QB here

He did when he subbed in until he got hurt. doesn't mean he can keep it up or will keep it up but he looks good as a back-up spot guy at worst. fant is solid and if we can nab walker little with our 3rd rounder I think we are set at OT for a few years.
