Seems to be a lot of we should draft X or Y so here is my list of players we should not take 2nd overall

    1) Sewell - why take him and stick him at RT? fant has been solid. we cna get value with a guy like walker little in the 3rd to play RT. we have edoga and even mcdermott has looked ok. we really need to improve OG more then OT or C. We can sign thuney and draft another late OG and maybe cam clark can earn a spot

    2) Fields/wilson - he isn't the dude. doesn't look good at all. I'm gonna go deeper into all the QBs in the draft but right now i'm thinking we may be best off taking one later in the draft. maybe kyle trask in the 3rd and seeing what we have in morgan and keeping sam and seeing if he can rebound in 2021 with a team around him and better coaching.

    3) Etienne - not worth a 1st rounder at all. despite RB not being premium he isn't even a 1st round talent. the RB class this year is a little weak. I'd rather run with ty, adams, perine and a late pick. a guy like charles williams in the 7th. we shouldn't be using a top pick on a RB IMO. we need QB, WR(or TE pitts), OG, RT, CB, and EDGE. probably a safety too but a late one for depth.

Right now Trading down is likely our best option. Outside of tlaw (likely gone 1st) and sewell (not a need for us) I don't see a difference in talent for the next 10 prospects or so. sliding back just outside the top 10 could net us a lot. with our traded back 1st pick we could get pitts or rousseau with that and then maybe moore or a CB with the seattle pick

I think we have an opportunity in making a huge upgrade at the right tackle position. Having the 2 best tackles in the game will dramatically improve our run and pass game no matter who is at running back or QB. This will make it difficult for D coordinators to game plan around. Now adding Thuney at guard is the final piece. Top line in the league. Now i am also for trading the pick for the right haul. Im just not sure teams will be salivating for Fields or Wilson.

when the interior is blown up. doesn't matter how good the tackles are. thuney would be huge if we get him. I'd move him to RG though and let a lesser LG play next to becton where becton can help him out and so can mcgovern. fant and thuney can hold their own on the right side. we have edoga as well who looked good. and this draft is deep enough to get a good RT in the middle rounds. Walker little should fall to us at pick 65 and he's a 1st round talent

Agree on the first two. Etienne is legit. I am a Clemson fan, he's the real deal. Their OL is pretty mediocre, he's for real. Najee Harris would also be a nice addition. Still love that VT RB later in the draft.

I dont know enough about the offensive line to know if this adding Sewell would be the best move or not. It sounds good on paper but for all I know, it's not the smart pick. Trading down is ideal, but i want no part of a QB at 2 with question marks.

This is why having the #1 pick was so important. Now there are no easy answers. We are yet again in a place in the draft where there's no clear best course of action. And yet again we're here because we won meaningless games late in the season.

I don't know. There are no good options anymore. Just less bad ones.

I can't imagine that Sewell wants to play right tackle. There's also no moving down if we plan on taking him as Cincinnati will almost definitely take him.

If we trade back the target will likely be a receiver. Chase/Smith/Waddle are all be the best value on offense otherwise we'll be taking an edge rusher or corner (Rousseau/Horn/Surtain II).

We're pretty much in no man's land with a trade down. Assuming Fields doesn't bring a haul at least.

I think the most sound decision is going to be to take Fields if he's there. There's a massive overreaction around here over the bad games he played versus Northwestern and Indiana.

I'm inclined to agree with this. I just think everything else is meaningless without a QB.

QB is so important in the modern NFL you basically just have to keep taking them until you get one who's good. I think there's a massive drop off from Lawrence to Fields/Wilson but that doesn't mean Fields/Wilson won't be good. And again, we NEED a QB.

The way the modern NFL works is that in order to compete you either need a good QB or everything else on your team has to be above average. If you don't have a good QB you need to be among the best running and defensive teams in the NFL to have a chance. That's just how important QB is.

Fields will and should still be in discussion at 2 as his potential is still off the charts.

The only difference is if Fields is the pick I’m keeping Darnold and starting him next year while Fields sits & learns the ropes for majority of season if not all of it.

Fields is in play, he has to be. His dynamic ability cannot be ignored. But I am so over Ohio State players

If we can trade up we do it bottom line. The majority of the time teams move up for their QB. We can’t be cheap here if the Jags will do it we have to pay up for Lawrence. Give them all the picks we got for Jamal to move up 1 spot. That basically is Adams for Lawrence. Then we can ditch Sam for a 3rd and move on.

I DO NOT WANT Fields. IMO he has "yet another overrated OSU QB BUST" written all over him. I don't know why you guys are so down on WIlson though! Kid looks like the real deal. I would not be upset if we drafted him at all. I was never in love with TL....personally, and we'll see how this ages. but I think Wilson is going to turn out to be the better QB between the two of them. You heard it hear first. I would be happy of JD drafts Wilson at number 2.

Just want to point out that you are about 3 months late in hearing it first from you.

Unlike in past years--there's no premier pass rusher in this draft either--which sucks (Bosa, Young)

The only blue-chip players are TL, Sewell, Chase/Smith

I think you probably try to trade down and accumulate picks--do not go Fields, I think Fields is actually going to drop in this draft and might be a late first rounder.

If you trade down, you probably gobble up one of the top WR's

If you stay put, you definitely go Sewell--he's better than any of the OT's in the draft last year. You would upgrade Fant and save money as well on the rookie deal. You probably sign Thuney to a nice little 3 year deal and we're really cooking on Oline.

You can use the other picks on a premier RB perhaps (Naj Harris)

Still hurts to think we are probably missing TL--deep down I figured this was going to happen but to see it happen is a different level of grief haha

No I’m not even a little Wilson fan. Just that he has been brought up as a possibility many times on here and elsewhere for the last couple months if the Jets did the unthinkable and win a meaningless game.

it really wouldn't be. i'm sure sewell will be a great LT for someone. it's just not a wise pick for us.
yeah i'm not sold on fields or wilson at all. wilson looks like sam/allen mechanics wise in college without the arm talent. he's a low budget sam

BroadwaySam, with all due respect, we are going to have to agree to disagree on Wilson. I think the kid is legit and that he has IT. I don't see the comparision to Darnold at all. Unlike Darnold, Wilson excels at reading defenses, does NOT fold under pressure and is NOT a turnover machine. So why are you saying he remidns you of Trojan Sam? as I recall, when Sam was at SC he was prone to committing turnovers and easily rattled by pressure and also stuggled reading defenses, the same problems which continue to plague him. In college, Darold was an athletic gunslinger, whereas Wilson is an athletic surgeon. I am telling u, watch some of Wilson's game film. The kid can play. He is smart and accurate AND an athletic playmaker to boot, with a good arm.

He's never under pressure so it's hard to say he doesn't fold under pressure.

He doesn't have a big time arm either. Which is imperative especially on the move.

He could be a nice NFL quarterback. But I think he has a lot of work ahead of him and is really a second round prospect at best.

I'm on the Wilson bandwagon heavy. Also like Lance over Fields.

Etienne is legit, I'd def have him in play.

Sleeper at WR, Kedarious Toney from Florida, he's EXCELLENT. You want someone who has the speed of a KJ Hamler, agility and hands, he's the guy I'd target around the 2nd round. I think he's one of the best WR's in this class, especially if you go QB/OL/TE with the first two picks.
