If the jets draft lawerence what do we do with darnold

    We have a few options

    1) Trade him for whatever we can get. I'd like to think at least a 3rd. rosen went for a 2nd. we traded leo for a 3rd and 5th. Lots of teams will take a chance on a young 3rd overall pick QB, especially those with a QB need who aren't bad enough to draft one high. SF, Det, Indy off the top of my head could be interested.

    2) Keep him for the final year as the back-up. flacco walks. start Tlaw and morgan is QB3 as he develops into a back-up QB. he walks in FA I doubt we get a comp pick as we will be spenders the next 2 offseasons. Could also make a midseason trade after an injury if a team needs a QB

    3) Keep him as a back-up and option him. it's a lot of money for a 1 extra year back-up so I don't like this option personally. but we could net a pick or trade him if a teams QB goes down mid season. he is still an asset so the extra year could get us a decent return

    4) Keep him for 2021, start him to give lawerence a year to sit like the cheifs did with mahomes/smith. this also buys JD time to build the team up instead of throwing tlaw to the wolves. I know fans will want to see tlaw play but we can't ruin him like we did darnold. tlaw won't be good with no WRs and no o-line. the extra offseason gives him time to learn the offense, and gives JD time to build a team as well as allowing young players to develop more.

    5) Other - state what else you would do not listed

There is really only one option: Trade him. And the Jets will.

#2 - Keep him. Who knows what will happen with Lawrence/Fields?

You draft Fields. Or one of the other young QB's. I don't think keeping Sam is a viable option and I would argue that I am one of his biggest supporters. The Jets need a fresh start in 2021. That includes Head Coach and QB. Sam deserves a fresh start too.

I voted other. I'd trade him for whatever whether they pick 1 and draft Lawrence or 2 and draft Fields. Sam is done here.

There could be a bidding war for Darnold.

I have seen NO COMMENTS from anybody who thinks he's a bust: TV analysts.....scouts....GM's....other executives.

They all say the Jets ruined him.

I agree, but up to what point? 3rd round pick is probably the ceiling right now, but who knows. I don't think anyone thought the Jets could get such a huge haul for Jamal.

Trade him. If we take Lawrence with the top pick, Lawrence is our guy. Keeping Sam is like breaking up with your girlfriend and dating other women while telling your now-ex that you're still interested in getting back together. That stuff doesn't end well.

Then JD should be fired on the spot.

    Another team might be willing to part with a #2 or a delayed #1 (i.e., 2022 or 2023 #1).

Indy is a very strong possibility if they don't get Wentz.

Send him on a trip to Neptune as punishment for not becoming out FQB.

Are you implying the Jets don't finish with the #1 overall pick.....or Trevor's agent uses a power-play to say he won't play for the NYJ....or the Jets actually pick Fields or trade the pick because they want Fields/Sam to play QB even if Trevor says NY is fine with him ?

Fields definitely.. I would gladly take Wilson as a consolation prize in the TL sweepstakes. I'm on the fence with TL.

Trade Sam this young man deserves a fresh start and a real shot with a professional football organization who’s going to coach him up and surround him with talent.... but let’s be Clear about one thing friends if the dumb and dumber Johnson brothers don’t pick the right coach and if Joe Douglas whiffs On these draft picks...It’s going to be groundhogs day in Jets land....It won’t matter what quarterback you bring in here
