Dumb expression aside, that's laughable. What long-term success did those two have? They had one career year, everything fell right for them and they won a SB. I'm not interested in that BS. I want sustainable success.
I didn't say that it couldn't, only that it couldn't make a mediocre QB a great one, and it can't. Rypien and Dilfer are JAG game-manager types. If great coaching can accomplish so much, how come those guys didn't win more than one SB?
the great Aaron Rodgers won the same amount of SB”s as Mark and Trent. Let’s add in Doug Williams and Jeff Hostetler. and Marino won zero
Sure, but number of SBs is not the sole and only determinant of QB quality. So much has to go into winning a SB. Coaches, players, the matchup on the day... For a single SB, it's way to noisy a signal.
Yes yes agree I was just saying that you DO NOT need a FQB and that’s a proven fact. The 49ers of the 80’s is what happens when you have a FQB AND great coaching and good talent. It’s a dynasty. But I’m just talking about how great coaches can win without a FQB because done here seem to think it’s required
Your odds of consistently getting to the playoffs -- and advancing deep into the playoffs, and also going to a Super Bowl -- are light-years better with a QB who is consistently Top 5 than with a mediocre Top 15 QB.
Of course yes agree I was just refuting a claim that the ONLY way to win was with a FQB Some folks think their word is gospel and that needed to be dispelled .... quite easily
I can't believe that you're trying to make this stupid argument. A great QB gives you a much greater chance of getting to and winning a SB than a stiff like Hostetler, Rypien, Dilfer or Doug Williams. If you don't know that, then I can't help you. Rodgers was saddled with a stupid, conservative, archaic HC for too many years, and a dumb GM who didn't draft Defense.
Wait a second, NCJ.....are you saying Trent Dilfer didn't carry that lousy Ravens defense in 2001 when they won it all ? I am highly offended at your suggestion.........
It's simply amazing isn't it? I can't believe some of the absolutely clueless, stupid, nonsensical BS and opinions I see in this forum.
Football is a TEAM sport and it’s unique because the team is divided in an offence and a defence. Plus coaching plays a huge role.. To win a SB it all needs to come together even if one side is more dominant than the other. Those non FQB that won had amazing Ds and HOF coaches. That was the difference. Marino was best QB to never win one and had a HOF coach but the D was absolute garbage except for when he went to the dance and ran into Montana in his prime. Marino is also the exception as he is really the only “Great” FQB to never win a SB. More often then not if you have a great QB you are going to have a chance.
Reading comprehension is poor I see let’s recap I want a FQB Aaron Rodgers is proof a great QB can be limited by bad coaching A great QB cannot do it all without a HC and team I want a great HC a great team and HC can win with non FQB these are facts and a couple of my desires Hopefully this helps the low IQ person get it
Was it bad coaching...or bad GMing ? Ted Thompson refused to use FA to assist at all. Strictly the draft (ironic, since the FA signing of Reggie White put them on the map in the 1990's). Rodgers proves our point: without him, all those playoff team or borderline playoff teams would be 5-11 or 6-10 or 7-9.
You are the only one with poor reading comprehension. I never said that a great QB cannot be limited by bad coaching. I said that they can't be bad or terrible, and that one's chances of winning a SB and multiple SBs are greater with a great QB than with a mediocre QB. You're the dumbass that is trying make an inane, inaccurate, and totally ignorant argument. No one ever said that a great QB can do it all on his own. You really are a freaking dumbass who can't comprehend what he reads, nor can you reason your way out of a paper bag.
NCJ, check out that Tribune follow-up on Trubiskey vs. Watson that I linked the other day ! Let me know your thoughts.
Last year's Giants victory over Washington got them Andrew Thomas instead of Chase Young. Sometimes you luck out, however.....New Orleans (with Bum Philips) chose George Rodgers #1 overall in 1981 instead of Lawrence Taylor. BTW, a guy I know years ago worked for the Jets scouting department...they had LT #1 on their board and would have taken him ahead of Freeman McNeil (taken at #3).
