I think this is correct. He knows the Jets better than anyone and knows the chances of them ruining any QB they draft is monumentally higher than him or anyone else getting the golden chance to hang loss #16 around Woody Johnson's neck and add them to a historically shameful group.
Yeah, this is probably correct. Belichick knows the Jets better than anyone and knows that the odds of them ruining any QB they draft at #1 overall are monumentally higher than his chances of ever getting the chance to hang loss #16 around Woody Johnson's neck. It's not just another chance to humiliate a team that he hates more than any other, this is a golden ticket to stuff them into the most shameful category an NFL team can be part of, a chance that will never come again.
It's not obvious to me. That cheat might tank very obviously. We might have to demonstrate new level of incompetence not yet seen this season to finish the tank.
Er, naw bro. In the last month Jags were within a few points against Green Bay, Browns and Vikings( over time)........ Jets scored 3 fucking points in 2 fucking games against Miami.
i don't think bill cares who we draft. he owns young Qbs (look at what he did to herbert a couple weeks ago) he also could retire soon and not be around to see Lawrence do much.
I called into ESPN radio NY and asked this question last week and said JD better step in. Forgot who the host was but he said they should be smart enough to realize this and he will...calmed me for now...
I don’t know...I haven’t watched college games, but when I look at highlights for Fields he is throwing with literally ZERO pressure to WIDE OPEN receivers. It has literally NOTHING to do with what he’ll see on the field in the NFL, and especially on the Jets. Sam could have nailed all the throws I saw easily. Means nothing. now granted, that’s a bunch of high lights on YouTube...I would be curious to hear what better informed people have to say. I’m naturally skeptical because Ohio State doesn’t typically develop great QBs.... i will watch the college playoffs to get a sense as I do like to see what these guys do in big games...that’s why I loved Watson coming out, why I love TL...doing it in big moments against top competition means a lot to me. which, by the way, is the reason I HATED the Vernon Gholston pick when we made it...he was literally imvisible in the championship game he played in....
There's nothing that Douglas can do about what product the Jets put on the field the final three weeks. I guess he could scorch the earth if he really wanted to do it by doing something fishy with the injury reports or (even worse) outright releasing Darnold and Flacco, forcing Gase to go with Morgan, but that would almost certainly bring about that NFL investigation that people have been so concerned about around here lately. Knowing the Jets, I've been mentally preparing myself for the fact that they'll find some absolutely spectacular way of blowing the #1 pick and winning a game. The same way they find these creative ways to lose when things are going relatively good, they're going to find some completely epic way of screwing this up that will, on the one hand, leave us absolutely speechless with the brilliance of it while still managing to fill us with that same-old-Jets-style disappointment that we've all come to know and hate.
The Pat's could be playing for a playoff berth week 17 .They need to beat Miami and hope Miami loses one more. If that's the case, they will dominate us. If not, expect Stidham to get the start so NE can "evaluate " him.....
Minshew Magic is our only hope... it will be so hard to watch that game if we are 0-15 and Bill has our fate in his hands.
Bellichick isnt who scares me. It’s Gase pulling out all the stops to win & then sell a win over NE as a selling point to the Johnsons; The second portion of my fear.Theyd love the false bravado associated w a win over Pats as an excuse to keep Gase & keep the Status Quo
This is exactly right. It's not about Belichick. At least to me. It is about Gase trying to win so hard in Week 17. It won't save his job. The Johnsons are not that stupid. However, Gase would love to give one final middle finger to the Jets fan base and take Lawrence from them. The good news is he is truly awful, and even pulling out all the stops likely will still result in a loss to a bad Patriots team, but it is still worrying. Any smart team on the same page would realize what needs to be done. This Jets team is not smart or on the same page, but they may luck out...
Bellichek will do everything to make the Jets life terrible. He wants to throw that game away if they are out of the playoffs
I prefer Trevor Lawrence but Fields has a chance to be better (I would say like 70/30 Lawrence) so I’m not really that concerned about it. Dropping out of the top 2 is the nightmare but it’s basically impossible at this point
After two decades of watching them run it up on us, the day has finally come when we utter these words with a straight face... ... and now I hope they win. Life truly is a bag of irony.
I thought about this theory. While I suppose it isn’t beyond Belichick to pull something like this, I doubt the Jets are living rent free in that man’s head. Dude is so smug he probably isn’t sweating the Jets even with Lawrence, ...and tbh I wouldn’t blame him if it’s the latter
If there is a final missing piece to Belichik's career having the chance to hang a winless season on the franchise that he absolutely detests is a no-brainer - utter humiliation will be his game plan.
The Pats without Brady are irrelevant. Jacksonville has three games left against teams that need a win. The Jets, however, just like the game against Las Vegas have a chance at home against Cleveland or at New England especially if Newton doesn't play. I know that most on this board will be crazed if they win a game but Lawrence is the only QB they will take. Otherwise they stick with Sam and trade the second pick for a bunch. Get Sam a tight end that can do something, a couple of receivers who can make a tough catch in FA and stock up on young players.
