I would say Yes, but i won't watch or support them in any way and id find another team to watch that year. Your 3rd option is the closest, but i wouldn't say im not a fan.
Frankly it's getting close to "If Gase is still the HC NEXT WEEK, will you still be a fan?" What's the point? Fuck Gase! Fuck the Johnsons!
I really don't think the Jets want to let him go but there's no way to bring him back and not look like fools at this point
Only thing that should worry Jet fans is Johnson's not wanting to eat yrs of salary. I see that as the only reason he stays.
Losing costs money. It costs fan interest, and torpedoes the secondary market in merchandise. Right now a Jets jersey is a gag gift. Also, the postseason makes money for the hosting team in any normal year. Keeping a bad coach just to avoid paying him is peak Mike Brown penny pinching.
Everyone needs to accept that Gase is not going to be fired until the season is over. You're making yourselves crazy over nothing, and it's not worth it. We want the Jets lose out. Gase gives us the best shot at that. Firing Gase could give the team a spark and they could win a game or two.
There's no need. Gase is gone as soon as the Jets' season is over. There's no way that Gase will be back. I can't believe you guys think there's a chance that Gase will be back and you're fretting and obsessing so. It's a fait accompli.
I've never been a fan of Kay. I think the idea is totally preposterous and have a really difficult time understanding how anyone can even begin to think that even given the stupidity of the Johnsons and the Jets' history of doing stupid things. I think Douglas would quit if the Johnsons brought Gase back. No one would accept that...not the players, not the fanbase, and not the media. The Johnsons would be ridiculed at every opportunity and every level. I really think the Jets have just driven some people over the edge, and for their sanity, they ought to walk away for a while and try to regain some perspective.
As strongly as you believe that Gase MUST be fired at the end of the season, you cannot ignore the very real possibility that he might be retained. As a long, long, time Jets fan like me, I know you're well aware of the stupid things Hess and then the Johnsons have done. They share one trait in common: neither gave a shit about the fans or what they think. Do not underestimate the power that owning a multi-billion dollar franchise imbues them with. No one can make them sell, no one can make them do anything. And do not underestimate the power of the ego, and the drive to avoid showing any doubt that you might've made a mistake. All of this is not to say that you're wrong, and I hope you're right because otherwise I'll be ending my rooting for this team after almost 60 years, but it is to say that them keeping Gase on is certainly a real possibility.
I don't think it's a real possibility at all. If it is, it's so miniscule, it's not worth worrying about. It's not just that Gase MUST be fired, I just can't see anyone being so stupid as to bring him back. I believe that Douglas would quit, and I can't imagine the Johnsons would want that. Jets fans would bail in droves, the media, the NFL, and other teams would excoriate the Johnsons unmercifully. I just can't see that ever happening, regardless of what has happened in the past. If it happens, then ther world truly has gone insane, and maybe it's time to end it.
There’s no way he’s kept, I agree....They don’t give a shit about the fans, but they will be ripped nationally to no end and I don’t think they’re dumb enough to not realize that
The last coach to go 0-16 didn't lose his job. And that guy was worse than Gase (yes, really!) Unfortunately I have to agree with Colorado. I think we've all seen too many inexplicably dumb things happen. Ownership gets pressured by Peter King, worries about a reputation for firing coaches, they get convinced that this was a reset year with bad players, if only Gase had the right people he could succeed. "Maybe it was that dastardly Gregg Williams who messed everything up". "Can't tear everything down, somebody's gotta be here, right?" People can talk themselves into an awful lot. It's obvious to us he has to go, but I'll wait till it actually happens.
This is the closest ive ever been to jumping ship & waiting for an expansion team. IDK whats worse..how downright idiotic the owners of this team are or how little they care about providing meaningful change for this fan base
That is the scary part for me as a fan. Like if this is all an attempt to get Trevor Lawrence, then wow! This elaborate plan is working to perfection. But if the Jets are truly trying to win and think Gase is a good coach (Which is what they truly thought) then this is a nightmare. Going into 2020, Douglas saved money and did not improve some positions, so you knew he had no interest in winning this season. Still, I doubt even he expected to be (0-13) right now. Probably expected the Jets to hang around, be competitive, then he could continue to build with a Top 10 pick in 2021 and the rest of his draft and cap.
