This a good analysis and what Mel said in the last minute is very true. This draft is “mysterious” as can be. Could be a total crapshoot with all these 1st round opt outs and injuries. JD has his work cut out for him.
All these people have talked about Trevor Lawrence going back to school if the Jets get the #1 pick, but that is ridiculous. I think the Jets are actually a great spot for him to end up. You go to the media capital of the world. You get to join a team with a fresh start with a new Coaching Staff and what appears to be a good General Manager. Mims and Crowder will be good weapons, plus whoever else the Jets sign/draft. Seems positive for Lawrence and the NFL. Jacksonville? Not as much but still pretty good. Opposite of media capital of the world. They will have a new Coach and new GM. They have some pieces too. Not as attractive as the Jets, but still not bad enough to go back to school for either. I think Lawrence fits with the Jets and Fields fits with the Jaguars. We will see if that is how it works out with 4 weeks left. I never trust the Jets to do the right thing, so I have watched a lot of Fields, and he will be good too.
We currently have the worst starting QB in the NFL who is going to get a lot more expensive very soon. Why wouldn't we take a QB?
Im just watching more film on fields while im off. Im a def no to fields. Hes is Darnold all over again. Its easy to make plays when your receivers have 2 plus yards on defenders, but as pressure mounts, i find him making darnold throws. The thing that protects him in the college game isnhe runs, he wont don't that in the NFL. He will have to be a pocket passer and hes just not that good. Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
I believe he has better days ahead of him. This year has been a total team disaster from day 1. That is my opinion and I have been following the Jets since 67. Doesn't mean that I will be right, but I have seen enough good things out of Sam, to still think he can be successful.
He was better as a rookie than he is now. It appears that Gase's loser mentality has rubbed off on him. His mechanics have been allowed to run rampant and Sam still makes the same mistakes he made his rookie year. I personally believe he still has a chance to make it in this league, but it won't be with the Jets. If the Jets passed on Lawrence to keep Sam and pay him $15M a year my head will explode.
At this point I have them ranked: 1. Lawrence 2. Z. Wilson 3. Fields. I would only consider Wilson or Fields if Lawrence can't be had (i.e. Jets don't have the #1 pick). I would take Wilson ahead of Fields. I would be happy with Fields over Darnold. And I would not be in favor of trading out of the 1st pick at this point. That said, I want to see more of Wilson and Fields, and if they were to sufficiently impress me - a la Mahomes - I'd love to see Douglas trade and get a lot more prime assets AND a FQB.
And I'd take Daniel Craig over any previous James Bond actor. (And I pray to all that's holy they really don't try to sell us a female James Bond! Not because I'm a misogynist, but some things are sacred. If they want to create a new character, maybe Jamelle Bond, that'd be fine).
Wilson has moxy, but I was not impressed with his physical skillset when I watched byu vs coastal carolina... his arm underwhelmed me a bit. Fields has more upside, and has a lot more chance of being a Mahomes type (similar athlete and similar accuracy, not quite the arm talent though)... For me, I think I’d pass on qb if Lawrence or Field are not available with their 1st pick, instead draft the Sewell kid, build an oline. Not sure what you do with Qb from there, draft Wilson, Lance, etc. with the next pick or stick it out with Darnold/Morgan for another year... I sort of think it’s becoming imperative to lose out - just go get Lawrence + hope your getting the next great one.
The "moxy", plus being able to make unorthodox throws, similar to (but maybe not as good as) Mahomes, is what I like about Wilson, and I think he has a stronger arm (than Fields). And he's been in less than ideal situations more than Fields, which of course he's going to experience if he's on the Jets. I do agree I favor Lawrence over him, but if we're picking #2 I'd want Wilson over Fields, and I wouldn't trade out of that pick because I doubt either Wilson or Fields will fall much past a pick or two (depending on draft order and who needs a QB). Earlier I was leaning towards keeping Darnold and trading back to get a kings ransom, but I've seen enough to conclude that Sam isn't the answer for the Jets. Or maybe I should say, given the QB talent in the draft, there is no sense in passing that up and trying to bet on resurrecting Darnold.
Boo hiss, nobody beats Connery though I have enjoyed Craig in the role. I also will be super pissed if he becomes a she.
Connery is a close second IMO. I had heard about the new female "James Bond", but hoped it was just a rumor. Is nothing sacred???? Why do they have to make a woman be the lead in this decades long franchise? Did the Superwoman movies do better than the Superman movies? I'm not saying that a woman can't be featured in an action movie, but the ones I've seen have generally been less than great. To me this is like women's soccer or basketball: the women actually play technically better than a lot of men, but the overall level of play just doesn't compare IMO. For example, the USA Women's soccer team plays far better as a team than the men, but the speed and physicality isn't there. I'll be very surprised if this isn't a "one hit wonder" and simply a "place holder" until they can discover their next JAMES Bond.
