Give me Trevor and all is well. Now if we go 1-15 or 2-14 next season... I'll have a problem. If that buggy eyed cuck is here next season...... I'm out
No logical person is saying Lawrence will solve all the problems. He is just an important piece to the puzzle. The Jets would have 3 other 1st Round picks in the next 2 seasons, plus whatever they get for Darnold, Plenty of cap space, a new Head Coach and coaching staff, and some of the current younger players will have more experience like Mims, Becton, and Williams. There is reason for optimism.
For me it's a strange one. Do I believe the tank (with the right team building) can stop this absolute rut the jets have been in the last 5 years. Yes. Would I hate it if we were a team with talent like Denver/chargers and having their record. Yes I'm tiered of the jets just not sucking enough to drive the way they want too. I'm so used to losing now that the tank has actually made the season more fun than 3 wins would Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Unlike our own 'English Football' there's no relegation and no punishment and whilst I was until recently hoping we could somehow notch up one win and still pick #1, I've lately come round to the point of view that it might actually mean something to our owners if we out a nice 0-16 exclamation point on the last decade of turgid years. Picking up 3 or 4 wins every year allows the Johnsons to consider the team unlucky, growing or showing signs of hope. With 0-16 they are fully exposed and cannot hide from the fact they need to get their shit together.
I’ve been really rooting for Jacksonville to win so I can go back to rooting for us to win 1 without worry. I would much rather them go 1-15 to avoid the embarrassment for the players’ sake but if the Jags don’t win then unfortunately we have to go 0-16 and I would be okay with it.
Agree with your assessment of Douglas. Outside of Desir, his FA + draft last year looks better than what we’ve had for a long time for a team that didn’t break the bank on any player. It’s clear he focused on fixing the offensive line and he was able to do that without spending a ton of resources. If we get the fight coach I think we’re finally on track to be successful.
A few years ago 0-16 would have really bothered me. Since it’s already happened twice that “stigma” is not quite as painful. Also the older I get the less it matters ...LOL
No, not even a little. I lived through the Kotite years. It’s not the end of the world. It’s for the greater good. This too shall pass.
Don't ask me why but 1-15 seems much less a hurdle to overcome than 0-16, or 0 for the season If we go 0-16, we are not winning the SB anytime soon Bucs went 0-14 in '76 and it took them 25+ years to get over it, and that included wasted years of a #1 can't miss QB (Vinny) Lions 0-16 in '08 and haven't gotten close, even with a solid QB Browns 0-16 in '17 ...9-3 now, but does anyone think they are going to win a SB anytime soon
As I read thru this thread I can’t help but wonder If anyone can be more mis-informed about our problems than to want JD fired before Gase. May God help us.
Yes, if your expectation is instant success (sunshine?) after 0-16, you will likely be disappointed. But it also is a ridiculous expectation, and doesn’t reflect the actual positive outcome of going 0-16 this season.
Testaverde was NOT a "can't-miss" QB by a longshot. I doubt he was even Top 5 of all the 1st Round Picks that decade coming out of college. Bucs didn't have a QB in Doug Williams -- didn't mature until 10 years later. Stafford and Mayfield are good QB's -- not world-class potential like Trevor Lawrence.
Vinny T Stafford and Mayfield were all #1 picks in the draft All teams who picked them shared the same hopes you and others seem to have for Lawrence So much has to fall into place...the right coach, a good line, better skill players, a better defense...for Lawrence to be our savior. I take it you think he will be. I hope you and the others are right BTW Vinny was very highly regarded coming out of college
No, not all #1 picks are regarded equal coming out. Lawrence is clearly regarded on another level than simply being the best QB in his class.
None of those guys were considered generational like Lawrence. Most felt Mayfield wasnt even the best QB in class. Elway Peyton Manning Luck That’s it. Yes you still need to provide him resources to find success. No it’s not a sure thing. But purely in terms of grade & the position he plays..he is a generational graded talent at the most impactful leadership based position.
How close did the Browns get to 0-16 two consecutive seasons? A lot of people forget they should have finished 0-16 in 2016 also. Only an icy, slippery field saved them on Christmas Eve causing the Chargers kicker to miss a makable FG......now that would be a feat that would probably never be duplicated.
