Yesterday was a damn treat. No other words. Carr to Ruggs III will forever be a memorable moment in Jets history.
The Jets just went through a 4 game stretch against the Patriots, Chargers, Dolphins and Raiders where they had to work really hard to keep the tank rolling. All winnable games. The next 3 will not be that way as the Seahawks, Rams and Browns are all terrible match-ups for the now demoralized Jets. If Jacksonville can win a game in the next 3, then that would likely lock up the #1 pick for the Jets before Week 17. If not, then it will be an intense game between the eliminated Patriots and the (0-15) Jets. Can the Jags or Jets pull an upset in between? We will see.
If JD decides Sam is a bit better than Fields, then his next question will be is Sam $100M over 4 years better than Fields.
Thanks for the vids. The 2nd one of Trevor struggling to read the defense makes sense. How many times have we heard about Belicheck or Rex making it tough on a rookie QBs by mixing up and disguising coverages. It's also amazing how much of what a QB decides happens post-snap. Like "IF this LBer steps this way, or IF that Safety crashes down, or IF they play man or IF that safety takes outside leverage then come off your main read and look for TE down the seem, etc. Man. The brain of a top QB HAS to be so sharp and so fast.
He's not. I have weighed the options, as a big Sam supporter, and with the new Staff coming in, it doesn't make much sense keeping Sam over Lawrence or Fields. Hopefully Ohio State crushes Michigan on Saturday, Clemson crushes Notre Dame in 2 weeks and then we can see how Fields and Lawrence look in the College Football playoff to confirm they are worth it.
They need to consider sitting Sam vs. Cleveland and Los Angeles. Both teams' pass rushers will kill Sam.
Yeah, sure he wants to coach us NOW that we have a great shot at Trevor Lawrence. Sorry, no interest.
Here's the real shame. If you want to root for any win, its next week vs Seattle. Get a better pick from them, plus F#@K Jamal Adams! But those incompetent Jaguars took that away by blowing that game in OT. They had Minnesota backed up on 3rd and 27 on their own 7 yard line. TWO plays later, JAX had first down on their own 18 yard line. How they managed to get the ball back, but still give up 75 yards of field position in two plays, defies explanation. They should have been set up to win with a FG, but they choked it away on two plays.
He did ok with Big Ben. I do not think you forget how to coach but he would need a great staff. Of course NOW he knows to be successful in this league you need a stud QB.
Just want to highlight the fact that if you are truly rooting for the tank and for TL sweepstakes--you need to hope NE wins out before our game with them. So this assumes we get outclassed the next 3 games and then go into Gillette with them playing for a playoff spot. If they aren't playing for anything--that could be our win.
I don't think the Jets have a shot against Seattle if Carson is back at RB to give them a balanced offense but there is a chance against the Rams and the Browns. They have played tight games recently. The question is how will the Rams and Browns attack the Jets. The Rams finally started using Higbee more this past weekend. If they keep using him it opens up room for their WR and the Rams should win easily. If they try to establish the run and don't use the TE it could turn into a Jets win. The Browns also haven't used their TE much and wasted money signing Hooper. They have a much better run game than the Rams so I expect them to try to run on the Jets all day. If the Jets load the box to stop them can Baker find WR and use them properly? Hopefully they balance out their run game with finally using Hooper making easier space for their WR. It will be interesting to see how these teams game plan for the Jets.
