Agreed. How Gase isn't fired today (despite me wanting him around to finish the tank) is laughable. They almost got beat on the same coverage by Agohlar (sp?) two plays earlier and if you had a head coach that didn't have his head up his culo, he would have told Williams not to call anything as idiotic again and the TD never happens. If the organization is all about optics and accountability, Gase's termination will be announced in the next hour.
I will not renew a season ticket if hes here. They had no choice but to fire him it was way to obvious. Im still in on it was intentional. Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
When we brought Williams in it seemed like a good move at the time. His resume suggested better results than his performance here. Good riddance.
Agree with the consensus here.... I think it looks ridiculous that after a last minute loss to go 0-12...it’s the DC who gets fired....yet the FUCKING HEAD COACH, who is theoretically responsible for this all, is not fired. you literally CAN’T make this shit up
The next question is, was it Gase who fired him? I imagine that will come out shortly enough. Everyone is complaining about how Gase kept his job, but wouldnt it make sense that Gase has authority over his coordinators? If Gase reported to Douglas, I think we'd have good reason to be up in arms.
This is ridiculous. Adam Gase's play calling has led to far many more losses than Gregg Williams' has. In my opinion, this is actually Pro-Tank, because the defense was the strong part of the team. Williams lost half of his playmakers with Adams, Mosley, Williamson, McClendon, etc. He held them together pretty well. Especially with all the young players. The play call yesterday was horrendous, and like I wrote last night: a fireable offense, but I still would have kept him............for 4 more weeks.
I am actually very fearful at this point that Williams is going to be the scapegoat for this season, and Gase will be retained. The Johnsons will come up with some bullshit about how they still believe in Gase and how he's actually one of the best offensive minds in football, and how the 0-16 record and the worst statistics in franchise history are deceiving and that team performed better than the numbers indicate...
Perhaps the johnson's should let the fans vote on Gase's future??............. LOL. sure we'll all mail in the fucking ballots. and just like that he comes back in 2021.
Considering that this is the Jets, it's reasonable to be paranoid about such things. But Williams has nothing to do with the struggles on offense, primarily Darnold's lack of progress (or even regression) under Gase.
He should really be given a medal instead. If the Jets draft Lawrence and he takes us all the way one day (I can dream too), they should erect a statue of Gregg Williams at Florham Park.
