Head coaches need to be in both coordinators ear throughout the game. Hope the next coach doesn't coach one side.
Does this mean that Gase fired him, or the organization? Is this just damage control after all the intentional tanking allegations, or did they fire him because he legitimately made a terrible call to lose the game?
Deserved, but I appreciate the optics from Douglas on this. You have chuckleheads in the media saying he did it on purpose to tank for the #1 pick. Even though Williams might have done it on purpose because he had nothing to lose and just doesn't care, you can't let the idea that management was behind blatant attempts to tank permeate - Douglas is making a statement that he's not behind or supportive of the idea of throwing games on purpose.
Absolutely positively the right thing to do. Too bad Gase was not fired before him. Clean house Joe, and let’s move on.
That would make sense, but I doubt Douglas has that authority. Typically the coach fires coordinators. And in the Jets case, I wouldnt even be shocked if it was the owners decision lol.
I would bet a good portion of this decision was made when Marcus Maye... locker room leader, historically quiet guy, impending FA... openly criticized Williams after the game. Obviously what Williams did is a fireable offense but so is being the worst head coach in the NFL for two years. The fact that Gase isn't gone with Williams scares me. If Gase stays, it won't matter who we have at QB. We will ruin them and we will be terrible and the franchise will be set back another 4-5 years.
realize this was necessary BUT it's also typical same old jets.......team is on the way to 0-16 and who gets canned, the DC. LOL.
