Obviously the best situation for the jets now is to get Darnolds stock value up as much as possible. I think we are all in agreement that it is best for Darnold and the jets to move on. What I don't understand is that having Darnold throw only 23 times is not going to get his stock value up. I am sure many of you will argue that the Jets were effective running the ball and by keeping the ball on the ground he can't throw a dozen interceptions. Those who believe running was the better option you are missing the point. While most QBs are throwing in the 40s to 50 times a week we have Sam throwing under 25 times per week. Who cares if we lose. All the jets hope to accomplish is to evaluate players to keep and push Sam to think he was playing for Andy Reid. I remember when they hired Gase and the buzz was he was some sort of Offensive savant who was going to implement a cutting edge pass attack the likes of which we have never seen. With Mimz back with Perriman and Crowder they have some play makers now so there is no excuse.
Yes Lose them all 55-54 with Sam throwing 500 yards per game And have Seattle lose out all I care about is setting up the Jets future the rest is irrelevant
Having Sam throw 40 times a week and get intercepted twice as often isn't going to help his trade value.
Sam is rattled and has been rattled since the whole mono situation.. he needs to completely be rebuilt if it’s even fixable
It the running game was really good today. Isn’t the goal to do what works, and gives you an opportunity to win?
Darnold played a pretty good game today. One of his fumbles was all on him. The interception was quite a bit on Perriman not choosing to play some defense. The fumble where Becton got toasted could happen to the best QB in the league. Darnold was not the reason that this game was lost.
The reality is that Darnold is not a good passer. If you have him throw 35+ times a game he's going to make more than a few mistakes. Allowing him to engineer a win - or at least make a game close - by running more enhances his value.
Terrible pass into coverage, has no feel in the pocket, secure the ball, held onto the ball too long, same mistakes every game
We shall see. Let’s hope that Belladouche doesn’t get him, and bring out the real talent that’s there.
That's a definite concern, but he'll never become what the Jets need him to become IMO. In a new environment he might be able to be above average, and even win a SB, but I doubt it. He's got too many shortcomings that he hasn't been able to improve.
Tb was an exceptional talent. No other qb has really been that successful Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
He turned the ball over three times against one of the leagues worst defenses that ranks near the bottom of the league in terms of forcing turnovers. They also come into the game with the 27th ranked pass defense as a west coast team on the road in an eastern 1PM game. He had an excellent running game today. He played a decent game by his own standards this year I guess. And he showed fight in the second half rather than rolling over like a dead fish as he has in every other game he's played this year.
