I wouldn't be opposed to trading down with the Seattle pick as this team has a ton of holes. There will be plenty of talent in round 2 to pick from twice.

Lots of OL in the current rankings at the bottom of the 1st in 2021 at this point. I'm guessing Douglas takes a tackle there to bookend with Becton.

The second best thing about 0-16 is that there will be ZERO playoff expectations for 2021. We'll be clearly rebuilding around our new QB and nobody is going to be able to ask anybody in charge if there is a playoff mandate for 2021.

That lets Joe Douglas do a lot of very smart things in the draft and free agency next year. It's the one year he will have in which the competitive expectations are only that the team looks better than it did the year before and from 0-16 that is a piece of cake.

Browns under Hue Jackson: 0-16, 7-8-1, fired, Kitchens: 6-10, fired, Stefanski: 9-3.
Panthers under John Fox: 2-14, fired, Ron Rivera: 6-10, 7-9, 12-4.
Colts under Lindy Infante: 3-13, fired, Jim Mora: 3-13, 13-3.
Cowboys under Tom Landry: 3-13, fired, Jimmy Johnson: 1-15, 7-9, 11-5.

When you are bad enough to draft a #1 QB you are still bad the next season.

Repeat that enough to not expect the Jets to win much next year but be comforted by the fact that if they don't fuck things up next year they should look much better in 2022 and be a contender in 2023.

2021 should be about the QB making progress throughout the year and giving fans hope that a year 2 jump is coming in 2022.

I was originally thinking IOL with this pick, but I'm warming up on the idea of taking a RT here. With the amount of times pass rushers have just moved to the other side of the line to avoid Becton, I think putting another beast at RT would work well. I'd take a WR with the second round pick, and if the Jets can snag another second rounder, take a center. Sign Thuney, and move McGovern to RG once the rookie C is ready to go.

Any chance the Jets Seahawks game would end in a tie?

We still get our QB but hopefully knock them out of the playoffs.
