And before it's lost in everything else, and not to pile on Darnold, but that Hail Mary was 10 yards too short, and exposes his arm as - or more accurately his mechanics - as not sufficient. Mahomes gets that ball into the EZ and into the scrum and maybe there's a PI called. Darnold gave that no chance.
Watching both Raiders and Jags driving left to right dressed in white at the end was/is highly entertaining.
I don't care if you're rooting for the Jets to lose to get the number one pick or not. That was a fucking disgrace and should be investigated by the NFL. Not only was the play awful, they had the corner playing INSIDE leverage against a team that had no timeouts. And they were playing them like they were trying to stop a third down. I want Lawrence and all. But c'mon. That's fucking with the integrity of the game.
I honestly think it was a rookie mistake, not Williams. I'm as cynical and paranoid as anyone else, but I don't think Williams was calling that coverage.
There's a difference between sucking and tanking. We have the worst roster in the NFL outside of maybe the Bengals and a horrible head coach and a QB who has sucked. Why is there no safety over the top? There should be three safeties playing 30 yards back on that play dude. There was 13 seconds left.
If the NFL investigated every bad play call by bad teams they wouldn't have the manpower to put a dozen guys on the Pats, which they clearly need to do given the historical record.
