ALL of these guys need every possible rep, target etc from here on out!! Accelerated development! Throw Caeger in there too! Also, I think Huff had good measurable’s and good production, why was he undrafted?
Spot on. Great start for the young man. From here on out what he did in college has no further baring in his future. What he did before is only good for his family memory sake.
Thanks for sharing that NC. He is a ray of hope and another young man to watch. So far he is a contributor and a keeper. We need a lot more of where that came from. As I mentioned on another thread, what they did in college at this point is history, it is how he develops and contributes moving forward. Lord knows we have had our share of highly praised high college draft choices that did zippo once in a Jet's uniform. More than any other year, my best wishes and biggest gift for the Holidays to all Jets fans is a new, top notch HC staff that knows how to develop our young talent.
Numbers wise, Huff's senior year wasn't as good as his junior year. Less sacks but he led the conference IIRC in total pressures. They also moved him from OLB to DE and at times he played almost like a 3-4 end. But he displays some good strength and he's super quick. I think the things that led to him being UDFA besides COVID was he has short arms, and he's not a guy who displayed true pass rushing ability via limited pass rushing like moves. What he does do is he's good at the point of attack, he's a good run defender, strong and quick. I honestly think he profiles as a guy we felt Jordan Jenkins would be here. The thing that Huff does that Jenkins never really displayed was the ability to be a threat as a pass rusher. I think Jenkins was solid filling the lane and eventually getting to the QB, Huff has more savvy to get pressures and the like.
Over the past two games since this thread was created out of hope he's combined for only 4 tackles (0 for loss) and 0 sacks against KC/N.E. If this undrafted kid gives us hope for the future lol we're screwed. @NCJets (just giving you a hard time man)
I know that you're just busting my chops, but I never said that he was the only hope or our best hope, just that he has shown some potential to develop into someone who can give us some pressure on opposing QBs. Situational pass rushers usually don't get a lot of tackles, so that's a pretty meaningless stat unless they're for a loss. Besides, can't you tell that I was grasping at straws trying to find something positive, something to give some hope for the future in this otherwise bleak and awful season?
I like the idea of a thread around our young guys and who has potential to build on for the future... Becton (but the injury bug is a concern) Mims (looks good but why does he disappear in the second half each week) Franklin-Meyers (has looked good) Langi (looks fast and disruptive) Crowder (not a young guy I know but a keeper for sure) Perriman (finally a nice game...can he stay healthy?) Davis (will he develop? He had a couple nice plays against the Pats) Fant (can he hold down RT) Perine (let him play more...he looks very ho hum to me so far but we need to give him carries) Quinnen (needs to keep improving but getting better this year) there may be more... but with a lot of picks, if we get that top pick, and a lot of cap space, can we turn this around?
Why does Mims dissappear in the second half? Why does our entire offense disappear in the second half, is the better question. Mims doesn't disappear. He's a symptom of a much larger problem. It's not a coincidence
Very true can’t remember seeing a team that did this so consistently...4 yards in the second half a couple weeks ago...we had like 60 or 70 yards in the second half last week I think, then we get 4 plays in the 4th quarter last night so bizarre...I have to say our coaches can’t counter the opponents halftime adjustments, but it’s gotta be more than that. never seen a team that is so lopsided like this
Mann definitely belongs on your list, as does Fatukasi. I think there's a chance Clark, Huff, Wesco and Bryce Hall do as well, at least as role players. We need to see more of them, but perhaps Cashman, J. Smith, Ty Johnson, James Morgan, and Zuniga do as well. I think it's possible that the roster isn't as bare of talent as some here have claimed. Some of the talent is raw and needs developing, but with the right CS and right schemes, we could discover that we have more talent than we thought. I think Gase's inflexibility and his schemes have made us look much worse than we actually are. We still need a major infusion of top-level talent at the skill positions on both sides of the ball, but we may have decent depth/role players to go along with a few quality starters.
Keep your chin up kid Your posts are far from perfect (whos are?) but they represent some positivity in a sea of Green uncertainty
This year's draft class is getting healthier each week. Maybe Hall can be at least a good #2 CB with some experience.
The whole offense disappears the 2nd half. The Jets ran just 4 plays in the 4th quarter! The Jets have around 145 yards TOTAL in the last 3 games. Like how is that possible??
https://jetsxfactor.com/2020/11/10/...gland-patriots/amp/?__twitter_impression=true Here's some insight now but he definitely played a lot in his first action. They released Quincy Wilson and Hall seemingly jumped Lamar Jackson on the depth chart. Poole was out and Desir was so bad.
Hey this is the Jets we are talking about. You have to get excited where you can with them. Bama and Auburn are stacked a lot of players couldn't get on with them.
