You have the 4 choices above. Which do you WANT to see (not what you think will happen). Decide based on facts and logic. Don't just go with emotion. Think a few seconds before you vote.
The problem I have in making a choice as listed is that I might prefer to go with a new HC and Lawrence, BUT...if they can't get Lawrence, I might prefer to go with a new HC and trade down and significantly upgrade the talent and stick with Darnold. That said, I don;t know enough about other QB options in the draft to know whether it wouldn't be better to go with one of them and get rid of Darnold. So, I'm not going to make a selection above. But, "gun to my head" I'd probabaly go with "New HC and Lawrence" at this point.
Good point about not enough choices. Legler and our other QB gurus might say that Fields and a new HC is the way they'd vote. That needs to be a choice as well. I haven't seen anyone stumping for Trey Lance, but if Lawrence does opt to stay in school or refuse to sign with the Jets, then having a new HC, trading down 2-3 spots (or maybe a little more), taking Trey Lance, and letting Darnold and Lance compete for the starting job could be a viable choice also.
If the Jets pick 1st overall it’s an easy choice for TL and new HC. If not, it could be new HC and Darnold, or possibly new HC new QB.
Even a huge Darnold supporter like me has to choose a New Head Coach and Trevor Lawrence. Pretty easy pick if that is an option to choose.
You're gonna take another QB who will "compete" ? What if he can't beat out Sam ? Then you wasted the pick !!
No, if the choice is mine, 'm taking Lawrence. I just said that there might be someone else who would vote for that since some are so in favor of trading down and getting a haul of picks.
What about new HC and Dak Prescott? The Cowboys are unlikely to franchise him again which means he can test the market if he wants.
No, no way. He isn't that good, and the Jets would have not have the advantage of having a rookie QB cheap for 5 years. That is definitely not the right answer.
Hate to even put this into the atmosphere & in no way am i suggesting Gase should be back after the bye,let alone next year. But I think Gase would legitimately like TL & would IN THEORY fit what Gase wants to do. He can process information & make the right decision extremely quickly as well deliver an accurate ball on time. That controlled passing attack Gase wants,TL can execute exceptionally well. That said Trevor fits in alot if different schemes & would better off in every single one of them that doesnt include Gase.
NEW COACH! And any QB. Lol. Seriously, Lawrence if we get 1st pick, Darnold if not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No way would I ever draft Trey Lance with our 1st round pick. Not a chance. He plays for North Dakota State within a "Missouri Valley Conference" and goes up against unranked NCAA teams, plays against no name defenses and is competing against players who will never make the NFL; such as North Dakota, Delaware, UC Davis, Northern Iowa, South Dakota State, Youngstown State, Western Illinois, Nicholls, Montana State and James Madison... Who?!?!? Let him become some other QB desperate teams project, but not ours. There are currently 23 Missouri Valley Conference players in the NFL and outside of Carson Wentz (same school as Lance, North Dakota State), RB David Johnson and Jeremy Chinn (rookie) they are all unrecognizable names to me... Carson Wentz. 2nd overall 1st round. David Johnson. 3re round. Jeremy Chinn (2nd round). Joe Haeg (5th round). Tom Compton (6th round) lol (2019 Jets). Dylan Cole (undrafted). Davontae Johnson (can't find). Shelby Harris (2016 NYJ, 2015 7th round). Dallas Goedert (2nd round). Craig James (undrafted). MyCole Pruitt (5th round). Khalen Saunders (3rd round, 1 career sack). Chris Board (undrafted). LJ Fort (undrafted). Chris Streveler (QB, UNDRAFTED). Bruce Anderson III (undrafted). Robert Tonyan (undrafted). Billy Turner (3rd round). James Robinson (undrafted). Mike Liedtke (undrafted). Easton Stick (QB, 5th round). James O'Shaughnessy (5th round). Derek Rivers (3rd round). Who?!?!? I swear to freaking God. If we go from a generational QB Prospect in Trevor Lawrence, 1st overall, out of Clemson, within my storied ACC Conference and chances are 3 National Championship Game experience(s) to a Trey Lance with a top 3 pick out of the "Missouri Valley Conference" for a team called "North Dakota State"?!? Omg I would literally blow a head gasket and absolutely lose it here on TGG. You want a Franchise QB? You do not look to the "Missouri Valley Conference" to find one, I'm sorry; but you just don't. And Kurt Warner 26 years ago of 1994 (undrafted) or a "Carson Wentz" will never change my mind, ever. Draft Trey Lance as an NFL PROJECT and I'd absolutely lose it and request/demand JD fired immediately.
The franchise tag for him next year will be 40 million. I don't know how the Cowboys can fit that number in their cap.
What the heck do you mean, he isn't that good?!? He's one of the best QBs in the game today. And throughout his first 4 years (5th season) he's gone 42-27 (60.8%), 1514/2293 (66.0%), 17,634 passing yards, 106 TDs/40 INTs and a beautiful career QB Rating of 97.3 and he's not only an excellent passer of the football as he's also a dual threat who's rushed for 1,314 rushing yards @ 5.1 yards per run and another 24 rushing TDs. . And his career QB Rating of 97.3?!? It's 4th all time. Only behind Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson and Drew Brees! And his postseason playoff QB Rating of 95.7 ranks top 10 All Time (Russell Wilson is 9th and Joe Montana is 11th). It's not Dak's fault that Dallas has no defense but Prescott is easily one of the greatest QBs in today's game and I'm absolutely shocked you stated "he isn't that good". He's so good he's 42-27 All Time (.608%) but yet Dallas is now 0-3 (0.00%) without him and can not win a single game since his injury ala 0-3 (.000%)!
If he would sign a reasonable contract we would be wise to hold onto Sam Darnold even if we draft Lawrence.
I've never liked him going back to college. When I've seen him play, I've never had the thought, "This is a great QB! I wish the Jets had him." I think he has been made better by the great OL and great RB, and weapons around him. But even if I'm wrong, the fact remains that the Jets are a rebuilding team and it would be stupid beyond measure to pay him $35-$40 million to come be their QB. They need a rookie whom they will have cheaply for 5 years while they build around him. He is not the answer for the Jets.
