I know they’re out of his hands....right now. I’m saying he needs to make that change happen. If he doesn’t, it will continue to cycle of arranged marriages which never works here. So, if/when he is able to make that change, it’s all systems go.
Becton was an A+ home run as Franchise LT. And I'm beginning to love Denzel Mims too after his first two games this kid is talented for real. Sam Darnold has never had an accurate deep ball and dating back to his USC he's lacked a deep ball but not Trevor Lawrence. Trevor has an absolutely beautiful deep ball and has always played as a vertical down field attacking quarterback it's just his style of play. You give Trevor Lawrence a Denzel Mims who's 6'3/220lbs and blazing fast @ 4.38 40?!? Omg. Forget about it. Trevor Lawrence will utilize Denzel Mims in ways that Sam could never truly utilize Robby Anderson's deep ball ability and that's simply because throwing an accurate and absolutely beautiful deep ball has never and will never be within Sam's DNA as a QB. I love JDs first two picks in Becton and can already tell Denzel Mims is going to become an NFL Primetime dynamic WR.
Gase gives us the best chance to go 0-16. I don't want Williams to take over & light a flame under This team & win a game or 2. Let Gase be Gase for the rest of the season then dump his ass.
Keeping Anderson would have filled one of the holes that otherwise you'd be a) guessing if you could draft a guy and b) guessing whether he would pan out. Keeping Anderson would also have been favorable by maintaining the best relationship Darnold had on the field; when the team gave him no other help it's the least they could have done.
i am hoping he can do it. i dont love all the things he has done, i hate tearing it down to the point he has. but if he can bring the goods in the draft and low/middle priced free agents it will lead to great success. i think a little patience is going to be necessary. nobody drafts and acquires without making mistakes. alot of what he will do is hope for the upside to happen with free agents as i think he did this past year and it didnt work out. im super impatient at this point and thats part of my problem.
The ONLY reprieve I can give RN for JD is that he's trying to do right by players. Now, that's fine for the Avery, Mclendon and Bells of the world but NOT for the Jamal, Anderson and anyone who is at the cusp of their prime. That's ridiculous and totally wipes out any reprieve. AND, he's making moves like he has a 10 year plan. Dude, those days are gone. You NEED a foundation not a blank slate. You need Cornerstones and Youth that energizes. We have Flacco... enough said.
You seem to be having a guilty complex. Where did i come off saying that you said that? This is my interpretation as to what I seem to think you're logic is going with this. Your points are that Gase is gone after this season, my point is maybe not. You can believe what you want. When you state that my question is moot, and that's not what is happening, you need to get your head out out of the sand. So JD is NOT dumping players and the HC is NOT still with this team? Whew, ok pal. One example you say: Gase is now coaching to save his career, not his job with the Jets - That's interesting because JD is dumping salaries by getting rid of starters and your narrative is that Gase is ok with this so he has no choice but to try to save his career? LOL, I don't think any coach is going to agree with this unless his job is safe. Lets just agree to disagree. I don't need to reply any longer.
The coach doesn’t have to agree. It’s not his call. He doesn’t have control over the roster. He has Gameday control, not cut/trade control.
original post is great. losing sucks and is frustrating but JD is building things the right way. Idzik had a great plan but F- execution. Macganan IMO had no plan and F- execution JD has a plan and seems to have an eye for talent, and is looking for intangibles, high quality guys who can grind it out, handle adversity, lead etc. i'm not surprised Jamal, Robbie, and Leveon are gone. First two were becoming prima donnas, and Leveon was starting to complain too much compared to his production as well. As others have said in this thread, a teams fortunes can change pretty quickly if handled right, and typically it's because of a lot of changes, not the addition of one or two superstars -- looking at you Leveaon and Mosley. i don't know what to think about the coaching situation. Dan Quinn should have won a super bowl -- now unemployed. Bill bellicheck is 2-5 (be honest did you expect to ever see that). Doug Pederson was a genius -- now more like .500. Very fickle. Did these guys get dumb and the game passed them by, or was it more complicated because of roster, schedule, injuries etc. im as frustrated as anyone seeing the jets offense regress from last year (where we could at least move the ball on opening drive and showed some growth in 2d half of year). and it's super easy to blame Gase (which I do). Just saying it's very, very tough to win. ANd if they do change coaches (which I suspect they will but not 100% convinced) i hope it's because they truly believe the new guy has that "it" factor to separate from the competition and is not merely a different guy for the sake of change
"There's reasons behind every move that we make," Gase explained. "I felt like [dealing Williamson] was something where an opportunity presented itself. Sometimes with how we've accumulated picks for the next few drafts, we haven't won a game yet. When we have guys that other teams see value in, and we're able to get draft picks due to it. I know it's not always ideal, but I mean that's the NFL. That's what it is." Does this sound like a dead man walking? Sounds like he thinks there is future with the team. I have been saying gase is gone till he is gone, but I keep getting on the threads that folks want to keep him guarantee the tank. We have not been competitive in any of the 8 games. So I don’t see we will be in last 8 with him or not. I thought earlier in year we would squeak out a win or two, but watching all 8 games, I just don’t see it. But still possible. I prefer him gone soon as possible! Many agree with me on here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes I am worried as well....these sound like quotes from someone who is PART OF THE PLAN...not someone is worried about his job I REALLY think that we have to 0-16 to make sure Gase is gone because I think that’s what it will take to force the Johnsons hands, but even then, there is precedent for a coach going 0-16 and not being fired...the Browns brought back another confirmed loser in Hue Jackson...another guy who had already had a shot with the Raiders. They fired him in season after that, but the precedent is there. I think it will take 0-16 and a lot of fan and media pressure to make sure Gase is gone....we will need billboards and airplanes again. I think having fans in the stands with bags on their heads and a resounding chorus of boos would be huge. but I worry that we may sneak out a win or two...the Pats look god awful...that kills us two ways...(1) it takes us out of the top pick possibly down to as low as 4 or 5 when you consider the Jags, Texans, Giants, etc who all have easier schedules than we do, and (2) it doesn’t ensure that Gase is gone. That’s why until Gase is actually fired....I’m worried

Agreed , he can keep his mouth shut and let whatever happens happens. Imo, I think it goes deeper than this. Many here think the Jets are in a tanking mode. Yet the same think he's fighting for his job. See the irony in this? If the Jets win 1 against the Pats on Monday , which they have a good shot at doing, I can see many tanking Jets fans tossing their TV's out the window because the Jest just blew the #1 pick. I don't see Jax winning another game - check their sched.
This Is all essentially moot to me at this point unfortunately. I am numb, not dumb. I can see where this Is going, but, until It's finished next offseason, I can't say I'm hopeful or disappointed until we get to that point. I expect A LOT of change this offseason, but, the soj In me can also see more of the same happening. Time will tell. Time will tell.... I just want to point out... and I get the argument of "what else Is he supposed to say there?" I do. ..but when JD is directly being asked If Adam Gase is PART OF THE SOLUTION moving forward and the response of YES comes out his mouth... I cringed harder than I may have ever cringed as a Jet fan. That's saying a fuck lot.
Sometimes that's what happens when you're on a team - other guys get the glory. If his number isn't called often on the goal line it doesn't reflect on what he has done. Which NY Jet receiver is catching 76% of his targets and is picking up eleven yards each time he is? What's your point? You're not really trying to make a case for Joe Douglas by slamming a guy who is doing well while the Jets get worse, are you?
