We'll see after next week. If the song remains the same and Gase still has a job come Tuesday then we can pretty much say that JD has written him off.
Youi hit the nail on the head. The current roster is full of undrafted free agents, low round picks, and other teams cuts. Seriously, the jets look like the JV scrimmaging the varsity EVERY WEEK.
Spot on. You don't want to ruin whatever chances these guys have for developing. Davis has little experience as a football player compared with the rest of the NFL. He's probably having to think too much. Williams may be giving him too much to be responsible for/think about.
I agree with most of what is posted here except the Gore stuff. Yes he is ancient but he has also been the most consistently productive RB we've had in years. Sad, but its not his fault everyone else, including Bell, sucks with us. He is the definition of a true football player and I'm glad we got a chance to see him first hand while he is still at it. Our younger guys have twice the speed and still cannot find a hole to save their lives.
That was Ashtyn's first start...he looked a step late on plays but I wanna see more on him of course...that's all this time is about, analyzing the draft picks. Zuniga had like a handful of plays and didn't do much. Mims had a great catch on the sideline and then no more targets...they need to get him the ball more because he looks good. Huff was almost used more as a contain DE, he wasn't aggressive in trying to get to Mahomes at all, not sure that was by design.
Not me. He's a waste of a roster spot after 100 carries he's got an average of only 3.5 yards per carry 0 TDs and useless in the passing game with a whopping 6 catches. One of our BACKUPS in Powell never had a YPC average of under 3.5 and could actually catch out of the backfield. I hate everything about Gore being on this roster. Last year Bell had a lower ypc average but he still recorded over 60+ receptions as a dual threat with a couple of offensive TDs so no, he hasn't been "one of our most productive backs in years" he's actually been one of the most awful and useless one's! La'Mical Perine as a rookie is only 22 years of age and seriously needs more playing time as he's already got a higher ypc average at 3.7 and 1 TD after only 41 attempts compared to 0 after 100 rushes + this rookie already has 8 receptions (10 receiving attempts) It's criminal that Gase has only given him 41 runs throughout a full 6 games ala 6.8 runs per game compared to Gore with useless games of 10, 11, 11, 13, 15, 21 etc with 0 TDs and absolutely nothingness to the offensive side of the ball. The way Gase is using (not using) Perine who flashed as a Gator within the SEC is freaking criminal and I hate it.
Its so ridiculous & outlandish that Gore keeps getting carries that im starting to find humor in it & dare i say enjoy it. Adding Flacco back into the equation just adds fuel to the fire.w White/Morgan sitting on bench. Maybe they can sign demaryius Thomas off the streets & talk Kalil out of retirement for a second time so we can get the full experience
Davis has been thrown to the wolves, nobody can cover Tyreek Hill 40 yards down the field alone, but I can't blame Gregg Williams , he has nothing to work with....Davis disappoints me as a returner
I don't know whether Davis was a returner at Cal or not. They may have him being the return man because of his speed and good hands.
Yeah, what is up with that? More proof that Gase's offense - regardless who actually calls the plays - is a failure.
I actually did start laughing earlier this year when the jets had a big third down in the red zone, and the play was a pass to the corner of the end zone for Gore. He was completely covered and he is so short and slow, no one could have dropped the ball in there to him. And as I posted earlier, Douglas SIGNING Gore was stupid. Who wants a 37 year old RB who can't outrun a LB?
I've turned it into a drinking game: Every offensive play that isn't a Gore carry, I drink. Haven't finished a beer in a month.
Douglas gets a pass until his fifth year or sixth? The New York Jets are much worse than they were when Douglas was hired. Fact. Some of you guys will still be blaming the team's woes on Tannenbaum, Idzik and MacCagnan when the national deficit is eliminated.
While I agree that at this point Perine and the other young RB should be getting all the carries, Gase is trying to save his career. He's going to give carries to Gore. If you were the HC, I'm certain you would too. I have to disagree with you that Douglas signing Gore was stupid. Both Bell and Perine were injured. The Jets needed a RB and Gore knew the offense and Gase had experience with him and wanted him. It's part of the GM's job to get players to help the HC. At that point, there was still some small hope for the season. Gore is the consummate professional and the rookies could learn a lot from watching him and talking with him. Would it have been better for Douglas to sign a RB that didn't know the offense and who wouldn't have been able to play effectively, if at all? Would it have been better to sign a RB that Gase wouldn't use? Would it have been better to waste draft capital trading for some RB that isn't even as good as Gore and who didn't know the offense? Some of the criticism of Douglas is really getting ridiculous.
