I'm just guessing. I know anything can be taken as a grain of salt. It's just that the timing of all this is very intriguing. We know that for him to turn down 30Mill signing as the #1 pick would be nuts. I think the odds are more in favor of him coming out and for him to go where he's picked. A college player dictating where he wants to play is a rare event. He would have that infamy through out his career.
I think we all agree that Lawrence will more than likely come out and play for whoever has the first pick, and we want that to be the Jets. We also agree that Gase needs to be gone before he declares. Whether he is gone after bye week around Thanksgiving or closer to January 5, I just don't think if it matters that much as far as Lawrence's decision is concerned, since declaration deadline if Jan 17. At this point, seeing how his assistant, who called the plays in the last game, failed to make the adjustments in the second half, it may not even matter who the HC is, so I am OK if Gase is gone sooner too, but to me the most important thing is for him to be gone by Jan 5th.
That few days after the last Jet game is telling. If Gase isn't fired within 2-3 days, I'll explode, lol.
There are a countless number of cases of players that return to school, only to get injured or have a miserable season. I don't see Lawrence staying in school at all. The first part of his quote was "My mindset has been that I'm going to move on." He was just being professional and not trying to be a distraction when he still has half a season to play.
Half a season with at least four high intensity games left as well (Notre Dame, Conference championship, 1-2 playoff games).

He will be fired that evening or the following morning. JD will want to enact his full coaching search ASAP. Especially if the #1 pick is locked in at that point.
If Trevor is scared to join the Jets is that really the QB we want? don’t get me wrong I absolutely love the kid but if he passes on the Jets because it’s not ideal then what does that say about his mental fortitude. Personally I see TL as a guy embracing the challenge and relishing the chance to turn a franchise around.
Well to be fair. Peyton Manning didn't want to play for our Jets and Manning never lacked any type of mental fortitude. I just know NYJ will have a lot to offer the kid. We've got a ton of draft picks. A+ #1 cap space and a Franchise LT in Becton already in place. No situation is ideal for a #1 pick as a QB. It's always crap teams picking 1st. But at least the Jets do have ammo moving forward for the kid.
If Joe Biden wins (not getting political) Trevor's combined tax rate jumps to 60-62% (fed, state, city). So his $30M is actually closer to $11-$12M after taxes (and that's before he tips his agent 3%, or about a mil). $11M for the first 4-5 years of his career is great coin, but it only averages around $2.5m/yr after agent and taxes. QBs don't REALLY bank until they hit that big second contract. Like Mahomes, 1/2 Billion for 10 years. THAT's the contract he has his eyes on. THAT's the contract Trevor wants to be in his absolute prime for and to sign as soon as possible and for him to be as YOUNG as possible. 26-27 yrs old and in his prime will drive a larger 2nd contract than 27-28 and 'still' in his prime. Trevor's coming out, simple math guarantees it!
Simple. Get word out to Lawrence camp NOW, that you will not only Fire Gase, but you will let Lawrence in on the approval or disapproval of next HC hire. Done...
The new coach is going to be the ultimate tell tale on what direction we are going. If we can lure a big fish like Harbaugh or Riley that will show how lucrative this team really is in the eyes of football front offices. If we hire a lame duck coordinator that nobody knows.. we are in trouble
This is really a stupid meme. Any young player would love to join the Jets. Lawrence would step in from day one and the media would make him a star. Besides there is no pressure to be great early because all the posters on this board have already put him in the HOF.
You all do realize this narrative about him not wanting to join the Jets is a bullshit one that was started by the media, right? Trevor Lawrence has never signaled that he does not want to play for the Jets. He has responded to questions in a logical and mature way by not throwing his current team under the bus while they play for another championship. Trevor Lawrence is not an idiot. He understands that the team he will play for will need a lot of work. That's the nature of being as good as he is. He also understands that the Jets will likely have a new head coach, 27 picks in three years, one of the most respected general managers throughout the league, and a shit ton of money to spend in free agency. The idea that he is going to run the risk of injuring himself simply because the media is telling him to avoid the Jets, is fuckin nuts
