He is, but he's already 28 years old. He might be able to play well into his 30s, but in the slot where quickness is perhaps the most valuable asset, his ability could diminish quickly, and after two stellar seasons, he's going to command a big contract next year. By the time the Jets are ready to compete, Poole will most likely be done, so I understand it if he has indeed been traded or is on the trade block. It would be a blessing for him to be freed from Gase.
I did not see that he was traded. He is on a 1 year deal though, so it makes sense. Agreed he is a good player and only 28. I would extend him for a couple years.
We can keep Gase until the end of the season, no problem. But if he's back next year, whether that's after 0-16 or 5-11, I won't be a Jets fan anymore.
Me either. It would be a true sign that nothing will ever change. I find it impossible that he would be retained, but if so, I would be done. It would be unfortunate. Again, no way that happens, but if it does then I would have no choice.
I'm looking at this in a different angle. Sam looks sharp and the Jets still go 0-16. No matter how you view this, it's all on Gase. I don't at all see it possible to keep a coach with that dubious record. Also, I highly doubt that Sam will be with them in training camp if they are sure they can draft Trevor. I think he'll be traded just before the draft. Of course, these are the Jets. Logic is not in their vocabulary.
Ya ur right of course. I think the main issue with Gase is he's FAR to analytical. It's all Xs and Os. He is NOT a rah! rah! guy on the sidelines (at all) like Rex was. Gase sits alone on the bench staring at his play sheet. Which is fine I guess, but football is brutal and winning is as much to do with amping your team up as it is with strategy. I miss Rex tearing up and down the sidelines screaming at the refs or celebrating a big play/score. Gase just seems to be in his own little world too much.
I might agree with this, if his non-Manning offenses weren’t all at the bottom of the league. Guy sucks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, a coach that has started 0-5 in back to back seasons has the power to publicly complain about his roster.
Your last two sentences in bold are the answer to the sentence that I put in italics. It's the Jets. LOL Never discount the stupidity of the Johnsons. It would be just like them to blame the 0-16 on trading Adams and the lack of talent, and say that since Sam looked sharp, and that was the main reason Gase was hired, then Gase should return as HC.
Gase may not be fired during the season (I figured they'd only either fire him after the Denver loss or at the bye, if at all this season) but you can't credibly keep the man as a coach if they're 1-15 or 0-16, no matter what the owner thinks. Hell it might not be Chris making the decisions by February anyway.
Could not agree more. Everyone saying what does it prove to fire him and to keep him for the tank. The longer he is here, the more likely he stays.
I wouldn't worry too much. I believe we will lose to the hungry Bills Sunday & We don't have a chance to beat Chiefs. I feel there is a better chance to lose out with Gase as HC than a few lucky wins with Williams as interim HC.
