Both Franchises seem to be at an impasse with their QB's. Clearly this is a hypothetical scenario.

The Browns seem frustrated with the lack of growth and development of Baker (59TD's to 41 INTS). Unlike the Jets, the Browns have invested much of their draft capital and free agent money to building around Baker. Still, he has struggled to develop.

The Jets have clearly been a misrun organization and have yet to put a plan in motion regarding Sam. In contrast, the Jets have not put weapons (Drafted or Free Agency) around Sam and have even taken away his only proven connection in Robbie Anderson. Turnover and injuries have played a role in his lack of development.

If you were Joe Douglass would you do a deal straight up?

No.... Not much else to add. I'd rather stand pat with Darnold or start over with Lawrence. I can see Mayfield headed to Jax.

Yes, If I were a Browns' fan or employee.

Yes, If I were Sam Darnold, or a friend or family member of Sam Darnold.

No, if I'm anyone else. I am, in fact, a member of this group.

What’s the point, neither has lit it up. So both in same boat that’s about to sink. To be fair they were not put into great situations, Hell, baker has had like 3 coaches already, and Darnold has, the offensive genius holding him back.

The browns seem frustrated, the browns loaded him with talent...

WTF do we want him for then?

No way. Baker was over-drafted because for the second time in 5 years the Browns were sold on cockiness out of the guy they want to lead their franchise.

He's much less of a distraction and a douchebag than Manziel was/is and a lot of the comparisons are unfair. But it's no secret that Baker shot up the draft board after his interviews. Similar to Manziel begging the Browns to draft him via text so they can take on the league together.

One underwhelming QB for another? Nope.

It would be a good trade if Douglas really wants to go (0-16). Great move for the Browns too.

Trading Darnold for Mayfield imho would be just as absurd as drafting Mayfield over Darnold to begin with would have been.

There is absolutely no point in this. We would be trading one upcoming new contract for another, and we still don't really know what we have in Darnold. OTOH, it's pretty clear what Mayfield is: a net-average QB, capable of providing some exciting plays, but also some bad ones, similar to what we've seen in Darnold but worse.

Let's see what Darnold can do before we get rid of him.

Why would the Browns do this? Baker has been better than Sam in basically every measurable stat.

I wouldn't trade Darnold to the Browns for Mayfield straight up... Because I do not want Baker Mayfield.

    However...

I would trade Sam Darnold to Cleveland in return for their 2021 upcoming 1st round pick... Because I no longer want Sam.

I'd then head into this year's draft with 3 1st round picks (with Trevor Lawrence #1 overall in mind) and chances are the #1 pick of the 2nd round too.

Baker is in one of the most talented offenses in the league and still doesn't play any better than Darnold. Imagine him on our offense.

Reportedly that was the scenario we thought would play out. All the experts thought baker would be there at #3 for the Jets. Never was a Baker fan myself.

Is Sam "not the guy" as many here believe because he's not talented enough. Or because of the Jets ineptness to be a contending franchise and supply him with talent.

I still believe Sam can be the guy (top 10-15 QB) and we don't need this trade or TL with the #1

I'm not a Baker fan but that's just patently false lol. Go look up his stats. He's been better than Sam everywhere during his career. I'm not even saying Baker is good, he's not. But Sam has been among the worst QB's in the NFL over his career.

What makes you think Sam can be top 10-15? He's ranked 30th or worse in almost every relevant QB stat every single year of his pro career.

I wanted Sam to be the guy extremely badly but it boggles my mind that people think he's a good QB when basically all of the evidence says otherwise. He's not even just below average, he's been among the worst QB's in the NFL during his 2.5 years here.

If you consider both players (and their upside) to be roughly equal, keeping Sam saves us a few bucks as the former # 1 overall pick has a bigger contract.

Write this down......If they trade Sam, it will be Belichick who gets the deal done, and then he'll come back here and torch us with him twice a year. That is the JET way.....:(

....and ANY QB taken out of the draft is a crap shoot. Even TL.
