I get it that we need help but you don’t say no to a QB of this nature.
Through 3 games this year he has 10 TD no int and 1200 yards passing lol

Two things... As a Jets GM, I would be looking for more than two picks for the #1 pick. Give me a Top 5 plus your 3rd and 5th. As a GM on the other side, I wouldn't give up my first round and second round picks because if the #1 pick turns out to be a bust, then I'm pretty much doomed the rest of the draft.

No, you've misread me. I'm not worried about this at all. I'm just stating that your statement that "as a NFL draftee he has no choice" is a false statement. You said a false thing, that is all.

*Note: Ernie never playing in the NFL would be a weak argument--Ernie never playing for the team that drafted him by forcing them to trade him is exactly the same as Elway, Bo, and Eli never playing for the teams that drafted them.

He does if he changes his mind about coming out and entering the draft.

Would both of those guys go by "Manning" as their last names? Peyton did it and I think Eli told the Chargers not to draft him. The Giants and the Chargers worked a deal and Rivers wound up in SD and Eli wound up here. Hopefully I didn't miss something here..

I'm not sure what would qualify as "saving the Jets," but I do believe Lawrence is a no brainer if they finish with the worst record. At the very least it allows the Jets to reset with a rookie QB on a manageable deal. Darnold will need to have his option picked up, and once that happens he's no longer a cheap QB. Being below average, as well as expensive is not where you want to be. If the Jets get the first pick, Darnold will probably be moved for a late 2nd or 3rd.

In addition, the Jets have a lot of draft capital to help build around Lawrence. With a late first and the 33rd pick, interior OL and WR can both be addressed. In addition, that 33rd pick can easily be traded back to net another 3rd. As much as I want every pick to be on offense, the defense needs a lot of help as well lol. The more picks the better.

Thats not to say that I think the Jets are in an incredible position or anything, but come draft time they could have an incredible and cheap QB prospect, plenty of draft picks, and a good chunk of cap space. The turnaround to respectable could be quick.

If they are of equal value to the performance of the team (Darnold and Lawrence), the Jets could get Lawrence on a cheap rookie contract. That helps the Jets manage the salary cap better. In addition, Darnold has been inconsistent at best.

Well the offense waited a decade or so, so allowing it to become the primary focus for a change isn't unrealistic.

    Here's the point:

This team needs transcending players. We don't have the coaching staff to develop players like the Ravens, Pats and Steelers do where they can plug n play role players in a system. This is confirmed through my friend who is very close to a former player for the team--his friend constantly talks about how were one of the worst at coaching players and it's a known fact throughout the league. It's been this way for years.

Lawrence is about as clean of a QB prospect as one could hope for. Even if you send Sam to a team like the Colts, his interception issues are going to be hard to overcome. He just doesn't read the field well and I have doubts he can operate a complex offense. The few issues he came into the league with have grown immensely.

As the OP mentioned, there are obstacles with Trevor Lawrence, but those obstacles are called the Giants and Falcons. There is a VERY good chance we all are 2 or less win teams and they both win tiebreakers because of their weaker competition.

I'm rooting for 0-16 because that's the best chance to get a gamechanger at QB and for our sorry owners to see just how bad Gase is.

I will repeat my prediction I've made several times--If end the season with 4 wins or more, CJ will invent a way to keep Gase.

I think you misread it. it depends on how far we swing back but say were 1st and 4th overall wants to trade up. I'd expect a 2021 2nd rounder and the 4th overall pick plus either a 1st or 2nd for 2022 so it's 2 extra picks not 1. a 3rd and 5th is a horrible value to trade down.

We need a CS that can put players in a position to succeed by maximizing their strengths and minimizing their weaknesses.

Interesting about your prediction. If they are 0-9 at the bye, and they have a good shot at it - that would be the time to fire Gase. But if he survives, and they win 4 games, that would be devastating. I don't see how they'll win 4 games.

After we also ruin the career of Trevor Lawrence too.

    Don't worry.

As a fan base we'll be creating threads such as...

    "Tank4ArchManning".

    Guaranteed.

Do you have a better suggestion of a QB we should tank for in 2026?

If you want to tank, we gotta stick with Gase for all 16 games. There is no one better (i.e more incompetent) to lose as many games as possible than him. Even last year during winning streak, the offense was still rated last, though not by as wide a margin as before, but still. Defense will not be able to bail the Jets out this time. Gase all the way gives the best chance to be the worst.

Wow.. it’s so Jets like to try and discredit one of the best QBs to come out since John Elway. Yes, better than Luck. Trevor Lawrence is a winner, has excellent football IQ, accurate with short/long/intermediate throws and elite arm strength. His absolute best quality is awareness in the pocket and extending plays.

If we get him Jet fans please stop feeling sorry for yourself and be excited for the best prospect at QB in 35+ years.

If the Jets have the #1 pick, he'd be the #1 pick. If Douglas signs a FA WR like Chris Godwin, JuJu Schuster-Smith, Allen Robinson, or one of the other quality FA WRs, along with Crowder and Mims, that would be the start of a potentially very good unit. If Douglas then drafts a WR with the Seahawk's 1st round pick or their own 2nd round pick, the unit would be even better. Jeff Smith also has some ability. If the new CS can get Herndon to rebound, and if Douglas signs a FA OG and drafts another IOL, a quality RB prospect, and we have a quality new CS, why wouldn't he? His only options would be to sit out a year or go back to school, where he would be risking getting injured and missing out on being the #1 draft pick.

Look @ what Buffalo has done on offense around JOSH ALLEN!

If we have an opportunity to draft Trevor Lawrence 1st overall? Along with 3 more 1st round picks + a boat load of cap space? You use all available assets on offense and build around Trevor.

    Not even a question.
