Seriously? Take a moment and read what you typed...

The only way that "Gase" and "offensive genius" belong in the same sentence is:

"Adam Gase is NOT and offensive genius".

Yes, we all wanted an offensive-minded HC, but instead we got Adam Gase.

On Rex: we're either at a point next season where we're bringing in Lawrence or trying to fix Darnold. Rex is the last coach we want for either situation.

Rex not getting a coordinator job after his Bills gig is pretty telling.

    Exactly.

Even though I have to give Sanchez credit for playing well in the postseason, the fact of the matter is that that team was a QB away from being dominant. Rex really should have picked up the phone and used those salesman tactics he used on the Pegulas to get the Bills job and convinced Favre to give it another go.

I love Rex but his clock management and being a defensive minded HC I say we pass

Actually, that scenario would get the best QB coach available here. Ryan's not carrying a huge ego, understands his abilities and would have no problem bringing someone in to do the job the right way..

As long as nobody tips him off to another "best offensive mind" or whatever nonsense is customary in Florham Park.

Saw on Twitter that Albert Breer mentioned Matt Campbell Iowa St as a possible candidate again. He turned us down in 2018

Bill Belichick was fired when he was HC in Cleveland.

I cannot believe I’m hearing bring back Rex talk. I truly cannot. I know he had 2 good years but he finished with 4 bad ones. He went from fun underdog to blowhard and never came back. He has leaned into blowhard status hard on TV. Anyone who wants to bring back Rex, I can give you 100 reasons it’s a terrible idea.

Hiring a coach is not about re-living a couple of short lived glory years. It’s about finding a long term leader for the organization to work. Douglas worked with Rex in Baltimore for 9 years so he’ll have plenty of insight into his coaching style and I doubt that’s going to be something he’ll sign off on. Billick and Harbaugh are both even keeled guys who are good at organization and delegation, and Davy with media, and he witnessed the success with both of them. I imagine he’ll push for someone with similar character traits.

How about a coach who knows both offense and defense? Focus on someone who can be a leader and motivate people to give their best effort as opposed to the next hot candidate. For every Sean McVay there is one Adam Gase.

What coach would WANT this job is a better question. This organization is deep in the shitter right now. Its reputation is in shambles. We will have a hard time attracting quality FA's let alone quality HC candidates. Trevor Lawrence will stay in school rather than have his career ruined by the Jets. Honestly, any FA coming here is doing it only for a payday as there's no hope for a VLT trophy. Same goes for any HC that has NFL experience. Perhaps Woody/Chris will find a hungry young coordinator who'll take on the challenge. Most quality candidates will find this organization too TOXIC.

First overall pick which gets you a transcendent type player at the most important position and close to $100m in FA with a plethora of other picks is extremely enticing. Also, there are only 32 of these jobs in the world.

Still, although there's only 32 of these jobs, there are 2 other more attractive jobs available. Whomever takes the Jets job will have to be a miracle worker and not just a coach. If I had a choice between a shitty job that pays well OR a great job that pays OK, I choose the great job as the money will come. Even with the #1 pick and $100m in FA cash, the history of this franchise says they will fck it up. There's nothing that guarantees the Jets will get it right this time, or EVER for that matter.

Perhaps that old saying might apply here: " I'd rather rule in Hell, than serve in Heaven.."

It's pathetic that the Jets fell for the Packers smear campaign and didn't hire Mike McCarthy.

Rhule? Nope. Kliff Kingsbury...nope. We're going with Gase.

Whoever coaches this team next needs to have some experience and some kind of winning pedigree. ABSOLUTELY NO FIRST TIME COACHES.

    Easier said than done...

  17. Its the same principle as a draft pick not wanting to come here.

These alphas do not think this way,and if they do they arent the right fit for what the Jets need.

There are only 32 of these jobs in the world. Most coaches want a blank canvass or the ability to paint over what was their before them. It helps when a team has ammunition for the coach to build the team quickly within their vision.

The jets have been such a mess & clueless any leader worth his weight in gold will have ultimate control as well as impact.

Whats more gratifying & impactful for an aspiring HC? Be just another good HC plugged into an infrastructure of a good franchise like GB or pitt OR coning to the tri state, grabbing this team by the balls & turning around a 50+ yr mistake?

Does the ambitious mountain climber want to take the ski lift up MT snow or free climb his way up Kilomijaro?

-Chuck Noll didnt shy away from the SOS

-Mike Holmgren didnt shy away from how bad the 80s/early 90s packers were

-Bill Walsh embraced the terrible forty whiner history

Well said. Someone will want to be the one who brings glory to this team which has experienced misery, heartbreak, collapses, and disappointment for most of the last 50 years.

and those three names are all legends.. To coin a phrase: " they don't make them like that anymore". There may be a few hardy souls that want to clean up this trainwreck but again, there are easier jobs and situations to step into than the Johnson owned Jets given that the team is the worst in the league. Having $100m in cap space means someone was REALLY frugal aka: cheap. There aren't any HC candidates out there worried about a legacy because they're all employed so that leaves first timers. Giving the keys to 1st timers is what got us into this mess in the first place. Our best chance was McCarthy but that train already left the station. Chris Johnson isn't changing his org chart so the new HC will not have carte blanche to do what he wants. Sorry old buddy, but we're in a blind alley with very few ways out.

Jesus died on the cross 2 millennia ago. Parcells is retired. All the legends are gone now. Who you gonna call? Another newbie to try and clean up this train wreck is who. It took us 50 years to dig this hole and it just might take 50 years to dig out. Asking someone to coach the Jets is like asking a millionaire to move to the worst part of the hood and rebuild a meth den into a mansion when they can just as easily move to the Hamptons. Not saying its impossible, but it is highly improbable.
