Pure fucking stupidity. Someone is about to get a STEAL. I can't believe we let the worst coach in the NFL dictate our roster.
I don't think he dictates it to Joe, he is dictating it by pissing the players off till they go to social media and force Joe's hand. Unreal.
The thing that pisses me off the most is Gase saying he should have come to me and talked about it. Which time Adam, the 1st or the 9th time you pissed him off by under using him. FFS man, throw the fucking ball his way a few times in the game, in fact while you run Gore for 2yards, line Bell up as a WR at least he can catch the fucking ball. The only thing you will be thanked for is when you deliver the number 1 pick next year and even then nobody is sure you won't fuck that up as well.
This is why all the people saying we should keep gase because it betters the tank chances are dead wrong. This team is awful with or without gase. Keeping him is just going to alienate more players in the next 3 months. I can't believe we're going to really have frank fucking gore as the lead back.
On a team devoid of offensive talent let's trade our best player. The only reason I'm not screaming at Douglas is I figure they weren't keeping him beyond this year so he wants to try to get anything for him... But still I guess they don't care if we watch this team this year. I'd refuse to return if I'm Darnold.
Trading Bell isn't really that bad of a move. Gore sucks but Bell just probably had his best game as a Jet running the ball and he ran for a whopping 60 yards against a garbage defensive front. Gase hasn't used him properly but look at the situation - is he really a part of the plan next year? Or will we benefit from getting rid of that contract while we can? I'm not sure why people still think this is vintage All-Pro Bell because it isn't. And it's more obvious with every game he was a pretty big product of a top 5 offensive line littered with great skill position players around him. Perine should get 99% of the touches moving forward.
Then fire gase. It makes zero sense. Gase is gone in 11 games anyway barring a miracle or complete and utter stupidity. I want to see a full on mutiny against gase at this point if they do trade le'veon
No I agree. I'm with the fire Gase now crowd. But I'm also fine with firing Gase and moving Bell in one swift motion. Someone will be lucky to get one more thousand yard year out of him. He's cooked in my eyes.
SO now Gase is running out Bell, wtf FIRE GASE, perinne is pissed off and it is not the coach be real the Johnson's need to man up and fire the man
Given his decorated college career, I'm shocked he's not more productive. Also super glad we used a fourth rounder on him. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/trevon-wesco-1.html
The correct move would be firing Gase and holding on to Bell until we have a new coach who could figure out what to do with him. Bell isn't the same runner anymore, but he's absolutely a threat out of the backfield. He has a role on a good NFL offense in 2020. The fact that we are choosing to stick with the guy who has run the franchise into the ground over a guy that could help us get off the ground is the issue, and I'm sure the rest of the league is taking notice. Good fuckin luck getting a free agent to sign here if we bring back Gase, and even if Gase is gone it's going to be difficult.
For what it's worth too - who the hell would want him? Maybe the Colts? Maybe the Eagles or Raiders as a backup? No one out of the race would make a deal for him and everyone at the top of each division pretty much has their guy or youth that's better/they'd rather play.
You don't keep a threat out of the backfield for $15 million a year in a rebuild. Sorry. He's a 29 year old runningback next year who is cuttable and will be four years removed from a good season.
Is he cuttable because he stinks or is he cuttable because he's playing for the worst coach in the league behind one of the worst OLs in the league in an offense that give defenses no reasons to play outside the box? That doesn't even matter really. At this point, we have to move on because we've botched the situation badly. A good team would have found a way to make him worth his contract. We are not that.
You do if you're going to eat a bunch of that money anyway. I doubt they're going to get anyone to pay Bell what the Jets owe him. And it's not like he can't produce...as long as he's not playing in an Genius-Gase Offense. I'm fine with them trading him IF they can get that team to take on his entire salary, and they get something of value in return, but if they can't the MUCH MUCH MUCH smarter move is to fire Gase and keep Bell.
Do you want 2018 LeSean McCoy or 2017 DeMarco Murray? He's cuttable because he's an "old" runningback who hasn't had a good year in nearly half a decade and he makes a lot of money. Whatever the situation is, the entire runningback room (minus Perine by default) should be cleared out next year and rebuilt. If we can get some minimal capital by trading Bell then it's a quality move.
