It would seem a good idea but the Johnsons would be paying Gase's remaining contract and taking in a new one in mid season. Can't see them tossing money around at this moment. They would hire from within, imo.

The Johnson brothers need to hear the words of Arthur Blank and Cal McNair about the firing of Dan Quinn and Bill O"Brien - they may learn something about owning a professional franchise regarding goals and obligations to the fans.
Any team can win any week... last year taught us that. they can win against a team resting starters at end of year. Chargers stink, there are few on schedule not out of the question. We certainly look the worst don’t get me wrong, giants and falcons 0-5 even hey have been competitive in couple of games. But they have same record. So doesn’t matter. We win fluke game or two. Anything's possible, but the Giants and Falcons are more likely to luck into a win than we are, considering we can't even keep a game close unless we're playing a Thursday night home game against a bad team on their third-string QB.

I have a question for the older Jets fans here since I wasn't even alive yet; how is Gase compared to Kotite? Is he better, worse, or about the same and was fan apathy similar to what it is now?
Well, the nail in the coffin would have to be him losing to his awful old team this week right? get Gase the f out of here. We need to develop young talent. He won’t do that since his job is on the line.
There was separate thread on this, and folks put some good perspectives forward. I will say they are equally inept, and I have not felt this way since 1996, (I.e. didn’t want to watch the games anymore). Personally I chose Gase as worse, but it is not slam dunk. At least Kotite gave is Parcells.... I have watched every jet game since 1980, if was on reg tv, and after Sunday ticket came. It's hard to say...lots of variables - different eras, different rules, etc. The short answer is: they're equally putrid. One could make the argument that Kotite did less with more than Gase because on paper, I think his teams had more talent, and what Parcells did immediately after coming on board supports that. However, how much influence did Gase have in either directly acquiring the players he has, or in eroding their abilities because of his coaching? On that point I think the answer is "a lot", and so I think he's the worst. In either case it's a "pick your poison" situation: you're going to die a slow agonizing death no matter which you pick. But here's the real question: When we're talking about trying to answer who is the worst coach in Jets history, and Adam Gase is in that conversation, WTF is he still employed as the HC of the team? '
Waking up today I can't believe this guy is still employed as the head coach of this team. I have twitter up waiting to see the moment it's reported he's fired. I'm really surprised it's taking so long. At least the Falcons owner was done putting up with it. I can't believe how the Johnson's are so accepting with the failure of a product that is put out on the field every single weekend.
2 nfl coaches have now been fired, and this turd is still standing. fire the fucking johnson brothers is my motto at this point.
To be fair to Gase, kotite had some talent on those teams. I mean the year before they were in line for a playoff berth before the fake spike. At the same time, kotite didn't potentially ruin a qb prospect so that's bad. As for apathy it's hard to tell with no fans in the seats.
